Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

I apologize for hijacking this thread a bit, but maybe the answer to my question will help someone interested in buying your advertised hardtop.. I'm in the market for a hardtop myself. I have a 2002 C4. There is one listed nearby in same colour as my vehicle. It came off of a 2000 C2. My plan would be to drive my car there and install it on the spot... But I know nothing of this process. I have read some of the other hardtop threads. I checked my vehicle, and lifted up the plugs in the backseat, and lucky enough I have the female "bayonet" fittings, which I guess makes sense for the year of my car. Also fortunate is the hardtop being sold having "bayonet" fittings. Would this truly be as simple as lifting the hardtop onto my vehicle, inserting the male bayonet into the female, screwing down with an allan key (size?), and then driving off? Is there any electrical connection for the rear defrost or does this get connected via the bayonets? Are there any other essential parts that would prevent me from driving the vehicle at this point? Mike

Defroster connection is made when you attach the hardtop. IIRC there are a couple little tabs on the front edge of the hardtop that fit into slots above the sun visors. And, of course, there's the front center latch (near the dome light) that pulls the front edge into position and locks it down. My usual procedure is to line up the rear posts while resting the back edge of the hardtop on a rolled-up towel. Then line up the front of the hardtop. Then remove the towel and seat the posts fully, using an Allen wrench or the overpriced Porsche tool. Then close the front latch. I'm sure there are other ways to do it, but this is mine. The first two steps require assistance (or a hoist); the hardtop isn't that heavy, but it's bulky.

Awesome! Ya I watched a few of those videos and looked pretty straightforward. Just wanted to make sure (re: 2000 vs 2002 models) that I wouldn't be in for any suprises (other than the bayonet vs screw fitting issue). Thanks again.

I believe you need to make sure you have the hardware to receive the hard top? Some models had the hard top delete option requiring you to purchase https://www.suncoastparts.com/product/PK997HTM.html
