Suggestion
Was going to do the same as you (just swap the regulator and see if it fixed the problem), but found a local alternator shop that did the rebuild (new bearings/regulator/cleaned the rest up/tested) for ~$150; which to me the end result is the same as getting a rebuild entire alternator.

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

Ordered a regulator and belt from pelican now back to normal.
Forget just replacing the regulator. Since the alternator has to come out anyway, get a new alternator. It will be worth it in the long run. Also slip a new belt on as well since that is cheap insurance and you'll be there anyway. Why do you think your regulator is bad? Low voltage? Battery dead? Just wondering....
Not sure about a regulator. Instead of a new alternator (expensive from dealer, no independents, and it wasnt practical to go through Pelican), I had mine rebuilt by a local reputable auto electric shop (for a quarter of the dealer part price) and it's been working great for the last 4 years.
The regulator isn't available from Porsche. Some electronics supply places could probably get it if you coulf one out and identify it, but that is going to take a fair amount of searching. If you decide to go the new alternator route we have a few different options. For more information

You can just get the regulator thru Pelican. Just order it last week. Also the suggestions of doing all the other work while the patient is open is good advice. I also did the motor mounts while the airbox was out!
