Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

Based on what I've read and responses to my owns posts here, my engine was replaced with a 2005 spec (Porsche factory crate engine manufactured in 2011), which means it has the newer IMS bearing used in 997 models.

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

9 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

  • Rennlist: 1 discussions

0 evidence records excluded for query context · 0 excluded by outcome qualification · 0 adjusted by outcome qualification.

0 acknowledgements have no verified action link; they do not establish a repair result.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Hey all, I have contemplated selling my 996 for a while, but just have not been able to let it go. Last fall I took a job with Mercedes, one of the perks of the job is driving a Mercedes. I love my 996, so I've had two cars (and a motorcycle) for a while. However, I'm getting my MBA, so I'm forced to sell the 996 to pay for tuition. Great car, I'm saddened to sell. I listed it on ebay if anyone is interested. Based on what I've read and responses to my owns posts here, my engine was replaced with a 2005 spec (Porsche factory crate engine manufactured in 2011), which means it has the newer IMS bearing used in 997 models. Clutch was replaced at the same time as the engine (34k miles ago). Always well maintained, the car is in great condition. http://www.ebay.com/itm/191874001358...CA:MOTORS:1123

POST 2Original post

Congrats on the new job with Mercedes! It sucks having to sell but, it's just a car, and I'm betting there's a 911 still in your future. -Eric

POST 3Original post

get them to put you in a R231, youll never look back

POST 6Original post

We have a CLA45 it's a great car highly recommended. Very different to the 996 though. Congrats!

POST 7 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

@OBK the R231 is fantastic, I just drove the MY17 SL450R a few weeks ago, sounds fantastic. @dan_189 The CLA45 is on my short list for Mercedes I'd like, it's way quicker than anyone would think, almost at fast to 60 as the AMG GTS. Fortunately I'm in a new car every 6 months or so, hopefully I'll grab one soon.
