Reported fix

I was going nuts trying to get the parking light to work on the drivers side, followed several paths as recommended and finally used a small screwdriver to tweak the metal connectors on the inside of the housing and it did the trick.

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

5 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

I'm losing my mind here. I have aftermarket HIDs in the low beams and figured a bulb blew out on the driver side because I had no light (which it seems to have done based on visual inspection) so I replaced it with a new bulb. Still no light. New ballast - no light. All the other bulbs function perfectly, including turn signals. I'm starting to lose my mind here, and it doesn't help that I have a violent flu over the holiday weekend. Any ideas? Gracias, Dave '00 C2

POST 2Original post

The odds favor a faulty connection. A typical failure is a wire on the housing side becoming brittle and breaking. Some have reported bad connection in the connector itself. Possible, but less likely, is the ballast, which you can confirm by switching with the one on the opposite side. GLWS.

POST 3Original post

If you have had the headlight removed, a pin might have been bent over on re connection. Straighten it with long nose pliers. That happened to mine when I had one headlight not working. ON PURPOSE I broke off the plastic which holds the connector so I could hold the connector with one hand as I re positioned the connector into the head light. Problem solved.

POST 4Original post

I was going nuts trying to get the parking light to work on the drivers side, followed several paths as recommended and finally used a small screwdriver to tweak the metal connectors on the inside of the housing and it did the trick. Not sure if the headlight works the same way but thought I'd mention it. BTW, I have come to appreciate how our headlights come out and install.

POST 5 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Thanks for the responses. In the spirit of closing this out - it was the fuse. Of course, genius that I am, I replaced everything else first. I could have saved myself a few hours and a few bucks by doing starting with simple first. Apparently I will never work on my own cars long enough to learn that lesson.
