Bought it with 10k. Trying to drive the heck out of it but with two choices its hard. Love the 996 and it wins out time over my vette which I also love. Now its close to freezing but Ill get it out as long as its above 32 and no salt on roads. Cant wait for next spring.

Coverage and how to read this overview
Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

Tragic situation, but I can help. Ship me the car for winter, I will drive it hard DAILY. Will post progress videos in GW996 thread weekly as well. I will take it to Wildhorse raceway too, so engine gets property worked. No snow and great roads where I live. PM me.
Move to CA, problem solved! Always a appreciate a nice well kept garage!
Thanks, Id love to move to more tepid climate. Someday. Nice cars need a nice garage and mine is far from high end, but it does the job. Rack is next for the two cars.
Don't make the mistake of putting too many miles on your car. Drive it daily but not all day lol. I say bewteen 5 and 10 thousands miles a year is ample. Have fun. Nice looking car. Love the vet. Thats a very cool looking car as well.

Is there any problem driving the car under 32, I also have a low miles 996. I was planning to drive all winter but just when the weather is nice and no salt on the roads.

Just make sure you get the engine properly warmed up...it does get cold in Germany too and you see lots of P-cars on the road there.

There can be a problem if you attempt this with summer tires on the car. They suck in cold temperature. And it doesn't have to be some area beset subjected to the worst winter weather. Here in northern CA where I live just this AM the 2nd day of cold enough overnight temperatures to frost the ground and the car -- my Boxster parked outside -- I get in the car and after a bit of a warm up to clear the window head off on an errand. Just down the street come to some wet pavement. A sprinkler leaked overnight and cars driving through the water spread it out into a wet spot maybe a hundred feet long. Thankfully before I got to the wet pavement I recognized the signs of frost and took my foot off the gas and made it through the section -- which curves back and forth a bit too boot -- with no drama. A bit of unexpected "ice" on the road here in usually mild northern CA. Even if the roads are clear there is a risk of encountering patches of frost/ice. An example: On my way west and home I got caught in Shamrock TX by a bad ice/snowstorm. Managed to get off the freeway and get a motel room for the night. 4 to 5 inches of snow fell. Oh, I was in my 2006 GTO with summer tires. Next day the freeway was still slick. (Texas believes that since God put snow/ice on the freeway only God can remove it so the freeway -- I-40 -- was still not plowed, or sanded, or salted and still slick as anything.) But wanting to get moving west again I found a route south of town that in just a mile or two was free of snow and ice. Getting out of town was helped by the fact that the city streets had been plowed and sanded/salted. So I drove south and then after some miles found a road that took me west again and would eventually come out just east of Amarillo TX. The temperature was still cold but no snow had fallen down this way. But I had to be careful nonetheless because in places where trees were on the south side of the road the shadow of the tree branches -- all the leaves were off -- resulted in large patches of frost on the road.
