Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Guys, I'm looking at this car and find it strange that the grills in the rear bumper are body coloured. Did these cars ever come from the factory like this or would it indicated an aftermarket bumper?

POST 2Original post

doesn't need to be aftermarket...could be OEM that was then painted to match by the owner

POST 3 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

^^^ Thanks, I also thought of that. Are those painted grills a separate piece or is it part of the bumper itself?

POST 4Original post

The vents are black from the factory on 4S & turbo cars. I've painted my lowers to match body but first time seeing the vents painted. They are separate inserts from bumper cover.

POST 5Original post

My guess would be that someone lazy painted it.

POST 6 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

The front and rear lowers have been painted, so I assume the previous owner may have just liked the colour matched look and went overboard by painting the vents. Good to know that if I purchased this car, I could swap out the vents for factory black ones.

POST 7Original post

...or just wallpaper over them, since they're trinkets on the 4S anyway.

POST 8Original post

yes you have to take them out to paint them, i repainted all my black rubber trim with sem because the original is bare black and very porous and it gets wax and then fades. so it last alot better painted. Bet the car was a macco job, dont mask anything

POST 9Original post

I was thinking of removing mine for clean/paint when I had my cover off. The clips that hold them on look to be very fragile and would probably brake when removed. I left them alone. My LS3 conversion; http://ls1tech.com/forums/conversion...onversion.html
