Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

6 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

0 evidence records excluded for query context · 0 excluded by outcome qualification · 0 adjusted by outcome qualification.

0 acknowledgements have no verified action link; they do not establish a repair result.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

My electronic (dash) oil level gauge flashes on start up and obviously I get no oil level read out. Anyone know wear the sensor is on the oil pan? If its on the outside and easy to get to (ha!) I'll replace it myself. Marcus

POST 2Original post

does the whole display flash or just the level with a timer?

POST 3 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Whole display flashes...according to the manual that means that the gauge isn't functioning. BTW oil level is good (I check manually anyways). M

POST 4Original post

same issue. I know the wiring has been chewed, I just don't know where in the engine it is. any tips would be appreciated

POST 5Original post

Part #13 post #4 here. Looks like a bear with engine in place. https://rennlist.com/forums/996-forum/764747-2001-996-c2-coolant-temperature-sensor.html#post10588494

thanks! I snaked a scope in there and found the chewed parts. Not sure how I will go about replacing that without it being a huge headache.
