In addition to changing my thermostat and water pump, I would like to change this hose as well (the one that attaches directly to the water pump–please note that it is not the thermostat hose I'm referring to).

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

9 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

In addition to changing my thermostat and water pump, I would like to change this hose as well (the one that attaches directly to the water pump–please note that it is not the thermostat hose I'm referring to). Here is the part number: 996-106-850-05-M100 Water Hose, Coolant Expansion Tank to Return Pipe to Water Pump, (3-Way Hose). Is this easy to change? Does someone have a straightforward guide I can follow? I am a DIY guy, and I'm determined to do this myself. BTW, I don't see a guide to replace this hose on the Pelican Parts site. Thank You! 99 C2 Zenith Blue

POST 2Original post

Ummmm...I don't get it. Undue clamps, remove hose. Replace hose and install clamps. Just reverse what you did to remove it. If you are going to use the spring clamps, install them first before replacing hose.

POST 3Original post

the tool from Auto Zone has length to help with removal of spring clamps - about 38 dollars - a busted knuckle job - enjoy

POST 4 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

DB JOE and Roadblock: I've replaced hoses and clamps before. I get the general concept. A no brainer actually. But this one is not out of the car yet and looks a bit more involved. Is there anything else you have to remove first to install this particular hose? Or, are you simply guessing and making comments about a job you've never done before?

U tube or buy a book - sounds like that's what you need

POST 7Original post

I just did mine, there is nothing to it. You might have to remove a couple other hoses to make it easier, but you can figure it out once you get your head under the car. The top connections are very straight forward. Good luck

POST 8Original post

I think one of the main "tricks" is to be very careful of old plastic connectors while you're in there - they break easily due to age and heat cycling in the engine compartment. Good Luck

POST 9Original post

Be careful when you suggest a job is too simple... That hose changed part numbers at some point, and doesn't fit well in older setups. You may need to replace one of the hard pipes as well. Read this thread... https://rennlist.com/forums/996-foru...esn-t-fit.html This is critical to check if you have a '98 or '99 model year.
