Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

4 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

0 evidence records excluded for query context · 0 excluded by outcome qualification · 0 adjusted by outcome qualification.

1 acknowledgements have no verified action link; they do not establish a repair result.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Hi, I used the emergency operation to open my clamshell and close the top. I am trying to open the clamshell and top now but it doesn't work. The motor turns but the clamshell doesn't move. I tried removing the "override" screw and thread it in again but nothing happens. Is there any tricks? I have Durametric (The whole emergency process was unnecessary, it started raining so I freaked out. Turns out the hood wasn't closed properly.....) Thanks

POST 2Original post

After "emergency" operation of the top, recalibration is required, because some things can get out of sequence. I don't think the Durametric does this. Probably need a visit to a dealer or an indy with the proper PIWIS or PS2 equipment or similar. Also, some components intentionally break during the emergency operation of the top, and these must be repaired. Specifically, the convertible top lock and the clamshell lid drive. http://www.welton-village.org.uk/porschesofttopp.pdf

Thanks, I have tried that but will try again. Also for some reason I have a 997 top. It says so on the sticker and doesn't look like anything on the photos.... Car is a 99 and has 100k miles and 4 owners.

POST 4 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Did it again and it worked. (Screw out with loctite). For some reason I have a 997 "hook" mechanism, this makes everything easier. No marks to align. Calibration worked with Durametric. My side flap was bad, the plastic "nut" that sits on the threaded rod was bad. This causes spurious "exceeded timeout". New mechanism is $89 on ebay. Top works as a champ now!
