Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

Coverage and how to read this overview
Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

So as the title says just became a Porsche owner. The car was owned by a driving instructor so it runs well. Since is it not a pristine car with all the paint chips in the front bumper and the high miles, I have decided to update some of the driver touch points to make the car more of a Driver's car. I am looking to put a short shifter in, update the transmission as well as the engine motor mounts, waybars, and clutch. I am looking at the IMS but not sure yet as well as lighter fly wheel. The car has upgraded sway bars from tarett engineering. Since I am new to this I would like to know if the areas that I have mentioned of updating are reasonable? I would appreciate feed back from the community on my intended direction for the updates.
P.S. The car will do some track days each year.
Thanks for the feed back.
The cars are pretty awesome stock. If you are going to be doing track days, here is my recommended mod list in order:
- X51 baffle
- spin on filter
- magnetic drain plug
- a high temp oil (there are lots of threads on this but an XP-9 is ideal, but it's only good for <1,000 miles
- high temp brake fluid
- high temp brake pads
Once all of this is taken care, find a cheap set of trashed but straight wheels and put some NT01s on them. This setup should last you a year or two of tracking if you really focus on your driving skills.
Welcome! Looks like a beauty.
There has been lots of discussion on the LWFW and at least a couple RLers have done the front diff removal. Try a search.
Vandersmith's thread on his 996 C4S build has some good detail and inputs on the lightweight flywheel (LWFW). From my reading, I learned:
link to his posts in his thread that mention LWFW:
https://rennlist.com/forums/search.p...rchid=26687744
- works best with a modified clutch of some sort
- even setup well it rattles at lower speeds/rpms
- big improvement in throttle response and ability to climb through revs, heel-toeing is less effort to match revs
note: my mechanic advised me that his client that had a stock clutch and LWFW went through a crankshaft before reverting to the dual mass flywheel. If you go for LWFW just make sure you read up on how to do it intelligently.
Good advice here from Slakker. Get the know the car on track a bit before you start changing the flywheel, etc... The IMSB can be changed (if you choose to) when doing a clutch.
These pedals are great. You don't know how crappy rubber pedals are until you use a better one. Never an issue knowing that your foot will stay on the pedal.
