Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

I think it was the last of their 997 offer for no core exchange.
Leading evidence: 'last of their 997 offer' (no explicit attributable resolution; this is a reported action or suggestion). Across 1 matching discussions, the most frequently mentioned possible cause is 'last of their 997 offer' (1 discussions; 0 report identifying it and 1 suggest it). No action has an explicit, attributable resolution report under the current rules. These are forum reports and suggestions, not a confirmed diagnosis.
Source reports, not a diagnosis or a success probability. Counts refer to discussions and can overlap.
Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

I really need to get around to assembling my F1st bits into the 997 shifter I got, and then actually installing it into my car. Only been like 6 months now since I bought them. At some point, it'll be nice to not have to reach into the same general region as where the glovebox should have been to get 5th gear.
It was advertised by Function First here on RL. Was close to $400 shipped. Been thinking about a shifter upgrade for quite some time when this came along. I think it was the last of their 997 offer for no core exchange.
Thanks!
Good to know, as I haven't really done any of my own wrenching since my motorcycle days (many years ago). But I want to start doing more of my own work on the 996.
There is a pdf install guide from b&m in this thread, followed it to the T and it took about 1.5 hours. If I had to do it again it would take 30 min.

Hey thanks GT. That looks like a great guide.
Between the B&M guide and the Function 1st guide and the 101 Projects for your 911 and the Bentley shop manual I'll be well armed!
Couldn't think about it today though with all of the snow shoveling. Looking forward to getting back to the mild west coast winter.
