Coverage and how to read this overview
Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

Just an FYI for those here in Saint Louis looking at the Solution for their IMSB repair. Reid-Vann is indeed a Certified Shop and not just a Preferred Shop as listed on the LN/Flat 6 site. I stopped in to talk to Scott about my options since I was not thrilled with the logistics getting the car to KC for the Solution install. He was not happy when I told him that they were not listed on the website as a certified shop since he told me that they sent the techs down to GA and paid their money for certification. Do not know if the LN/Flat 6 site has been updated yet but I feel relief since I can get this done locally.
^I don't think you can "buy" certification... My understanding is that Jake needs to be impressed enough with both your technical skills as well as your business integrity and then he "invites you" to become a "certified installer"... Perhaps they paid the fee, but didn't get the invite...
AFAIK, only ONE person makes the decision if a shop (and its techs) are worthy to be CERTIFIED. And it is certainly NOT the shop that makes such a decision.
P.S. Possible that perhaps due to an oversight, your shop was not listed as such. A quick call to JR/FSI should sort this out
No, this shop is NOT a Certified Installer of the IMS Solution. They are also not pending Certification,I have no record of their Techs being invited to the program.
One thing is for certain, if they made this claim they will NEVER become Certified Installers. Please PM me the name of who you spoke to, and I will square this away on Monday.
If "he isn't happy", just wait till he gets me on the phone. Just sending a Tech to the class doesn't rate anything, the tech must be invited to the next level, and must then pass a written evaluation, and then we must review the shop's policies. I am the one that does this, and I have no idea who this Scott guy is.
Sounds like all they've done is send a Tech to the class, and he didn't get invited. Oh well, 97% of them don't get invited. If this shop was Certified, they'd know it.
All shops that are IMS Solution Certified Installers are listed here:

Aw, Craig, come on over to KC and let Doc at Rennsport KC work on your car. You'll be glad you did. Plus you can get some good BBQ, swing by the auto museum and even go watch an NFL game while you're here!
Karl and his crew are great guys, and they are Certified Installers for the IMS Solution. Never had a problem with any of their installs, and they constantly keep us aware of what they find during pre- evaluations.
Most of all, they have earned my respect through their integrity.
Nope... Just look at the link I posted. This stays constantly updated and the minute we add someone to the list the shop name is posted with the others.
This doesn't constantly change, there's only two periods per year when a shop may be added, since we only host two of the Hands -on classes per year that these potential installers could be invited from. Some classes have no techs selected, others have 3-4, and then a couple of them won't make the cut.
Thats another thing that pisses me off, this Scott character insinuates that the site isn't updated; therefore, that we aren't doing our jobs.
People....
Just "some People" - you've got plenty of decent people on your list Jake :-)
We just need to be vigilant about protecting the list of "good" ones .Excellent Thread.

The List:

Yep... Now I have to go through more BS to make sure this shop hasn't false- advertised their status to those that have already had them perform the IMS Solution work.. So, that means going through the registration database, and calling people.
Humans.......
Well I definitely caused some BPs to rise for the looks of it. Not trying to **** people off or spread bad info. I was happy to think that I could be the work done locally. Nothing against KC, just a time convenience thing.
Went to Schnells link and Jakes link and there is a difference in the shops listed as certified. Jake's must be more up to date.
I am probably going to have this work done in the Spring once the snow and ice are just a bad memory. Car is under wraps for the winter. There is good Q in KC and lots to see/do but I will be looking into transport I suppose. Sigh.
The place I went to is also listed on the LN preferred installers list. Difference is they were completely transparent that what they do is NOT the IMS Solution and that they are not certified for that. So I went in eyes open and chose their retrofit install. Car run s great, I hope for many years. I've said it before, if you have the money or intend to keep your car for a long time then the Solution is the way to go. That said, I'm comfortable with my decision. But no shop should say they are certified for the Solution if they are not.
I have nothing to do with the LN Preferred Installers list. Again, this is nothing more than a paid advertisement to LN. There's no evaluation done to achieve this, the shop just pays the money annually, and thats it.
The Certified Installer list at
www.theimssolution.com
is the only thing that pertains in the instance of the Certified Installers. This is where Certified Installers are listed, and the only place that matters.
I have gone through the attendee lists for my Hands- on classes and haven't found a single attendee from the shop in question that has attended, since the IMS Solution Certified Installer program started.
The process for a shop to become Certified isn't simple, easy, or cheap. Also, only one tech in each shop holds the Certification, and is evaluated.
Certified Installers must perform the procedures according to a very strict Code Of Conduct. We make them earn their status, and work hard to retain it. The program is designed to remove variables that exist when just any shop installs an IMS Solution.
Understood, I get the impression Craig didn't/doesn't know the difference between preferred LN and certified IMS designations, which renders his claim about the IMS designation suspect.
Doesn't guarantee the shop was being forthright, but it could be a misunderstanding is all. If not, then you know what to do
. Sorry you have to navigate this type of nonsense!
No one is doubting that. But the only person who has ever said anything to the contraryis the OP, and OP doesn't seem to have a complete and total grasp of the nuances that are obviously very important to you and to the people who have earned the certified designation.
So, my unsolicited advice (worth what you paid) is to maybe don't go off half-cocked based on what OP said.
This is why I stated that I'd not go on the offense about this, and would only square away Scott if he contacted me to complain.
The purpose of my posts in this thread have been to state that this shop is NOT a Certified Installer, and also to help share what the requirements of a Certified Installer are.
This topic demands its own thread, but I do my best not to start threads here, as doing so is usually taken as an advertisement. I rate advertisement as a paid supporter of RL, but I prefer not to use the one post I rate per month on something like this. Looks like its required.
That said, this statement screams that the OP both understands the differences in installer status, and also specifically asked if the shop was Certified:
