Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Hi all, I am having a little difficulty removing the shifter cables off my 2002. Do you just slide them off? They get hung up as they get to the edge before popping off even after I take the cables out of the holders where they are secured before they slide onto the shifter mechanism. Am I missing anything?

POST 2Original post

There is a brass looking metal clip that locks the cable in place on the shifter. Look at the link and download the install instructions then start looking at step 37. http://www.bmracing.com/products/451...&md=&smd=&eng= Once the clips are out they just lift right out.

POST 3 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Thanks for the help! I made a mistake in my original post. I am trying to remove the transmission, so this is at the transmission-side. Sorry about that.

POST 4Original post

So you are wanting to remove the cables from the side of the tranny? There are also metal clips there as well. Once those are off use a large flathead screwdriver on the end of the cable and pry it off....the connection is a ball and socket. The socket is the cable end. Make sense?

POST 5 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Got it. I will give it a try!
