Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

Leading evidence: 'Clean off' (no explicit attributable resolution; this is a reported action or suggestion). Across 1 matching discussions, The most frequently discussed action is 'Clean off' (1 discussions). For that action, 0 discussions report a resolution and 0 report an unsuccessful attempt. No action has an explicit, attributable resolution report under the current rules. These are forum reports and suggestions, not a confirmed diagnosis.

Suggestion
I created a thread last weekend that didnt quite have the same life, but, it only takes an hour or so to remove the front bumper and clean the radiators.

It's not perfect but it will do the job and I can replace the screen next time I have the bumper off.

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

I had the idea to hot-glue it, my friend had an idea that worked and I didn't have to use hot glue.
Last weekend when I had my bumper off I put some aluminum screen material over the inlets. I had the idea to hot-glue it, my friend had an idea that worked and I didn't have to use hot glue.
We removed the plastic piece on the inside of the bumper, placed the screen over it and VERY carefully and slowly put the plastic piece back in.
It's not perfect, but it looks okay and almost every day I brush away stuff that would have gotten into the radiators/condensers.

Oh, one thing that was a booger was getting the temp sensor wire connected! Had to reach in thru the back to connect it.
Here's some pics:

Everything is a compromise when it comes to function vs performance. If all out performance is the utmost priority then eliminate the air filter entirely. As what the F1 teams design without the air filter intake. But then they rebuild their engine every other race weekend. The reality is that we mere mortals can't do that in our daily drives, nor do we have the resources to do it. Hence protecting the radiator with a mesh shield is an option that Porsche should have come with it.
my feelings exactly! Next time I have the bumper off I'll make it look better. I did the same thing on my 968, one time it caught a pretty good-sized Rock and prevented it from going into the front end of my 968. So it may not look good, but it works.

Stand in front of a screen door or window and you'll see a big difference in flow once opened. JR will not touch a car with any kind of screens over the grille from what I've read.

I'm well aware of the science behind the fact that those screens may restrict the airflow a tiny bit at very high speeds. But the fact that I probably will never drive the car over a hundred miles an hour, I think I'm good to go.
That should work to keep stuff off the radiators and condensers.
I've had good luck with screen that has larger holes. I'm not a scientist, but it sure seems like it may restrict less air and hold up to more impact than the fine screen you used.
If you do decide to do it with larger screen I've found the stuff from gutter supply (
https://www.guttersupply.com/p-gutte...-lock-on.gstml
) to work well and be inexpensive. I found the recommendation on a GT3 forum.
With some metal sheers and a little bit of time, you can get the same results as people that buy the Rennline kit (~$275 +/- depending on model of 996 and options: center radiator, etc.).
I don't know, maybe it's me but reaching in with end of a vacuum hose every couple of months isn't a monumental task. And once you block entrance with 1/4" hardware fabric you are not going to be able to keep the small debris from building up over time
I hope this thread dies soon, both for the sake of the subject and also so we dont scare off the OP. I created a thread last weekend that didnt quite have the same life, but, it only takes an hour or so to remove the front bumper and clean the radiators. The only thing that screening might help is stopping damage to the condensers. Thats after considering the limit to airflow. There is only a very small path for a foreign object to enter through the front opening to damage a condenser. That being said, how many of you have cracked or severely damaged the whole of the front bumper from somethings by hitting it? My guess would be very very few of you. So, whats the point of the screens?
