Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

Suggestion

If you use 202 rather than the 11s, then you don’t have to worry about it leaking (11s eats paint).

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

6 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

I was doing some cleaning in the engine compartment and noticed one end of the hose attached to the expansion tank beside the lid isn't attached to anything. Does it simply fit into the clip beside the + terminal facing downwards (I can't find a picture of this area)? Thanks The engine is 996 3.6 litre

POST 2Original post

Yes. If you use 202 rather than the 11s, then you don’t have to worry about it leaking (11s eats paint). Or you can just replace it with the newer tank that doesn’t have the loose hose.

POST 3 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

I'm not trying to replace any fluid, just wondering where the 'loose' end of the the hose goes. Currently it is not attached to anything. I see a clip beside the + terminal, does it just snap in there with open end pointing downwards?

POST 5 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

So I guess it is merely an overflow hose? Is that correct? My guess is that it was not clipped back in place when I had the oil pressure sensor replaced.... Thanks for your help on this

It's for venting air. Probably double as an overflow outlet as well.
