I'm going to take the wheels off in a couple weeks to change brake pads (wish me luck!!).
Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

Hi there.
I have read with horror the problems with water ingress due to blocked drains in the 996 cabriolet (I have a 2002 C4).
Tonight I went out side and poured some water on each side of my back roof to see drainage. I heard some gurgling, and then a few drops appeared in the front of the rear wheels (where I hoped it would drain. However, this quickly stopped, and then I noticed the water was draining out behind the front wheels.
I checked all the drain diagrams, and there is no way water should be draining off the back of the cabriolet roof to the front wheels!
My car however is equipped with (I believe) MkII aero skirts. I think what is happening is that somehow the water is coming out the rear wheel well drains and being diverted into the aero skirts, running down the aero skirts inside, and then draining out the front of the aero skirts near the front wheels.
Has anyone else experienced this? I'm going to take the wheels off in a couple weeks to change brake pads (wish me luck!!). I'm definately not a mechanic, but I'm gonna give it a shot. I'll check the drains at that time.
Thanks
Mike
You've been holding out on everyone.
I do not have a cab, nor any experience with water coming out of the car in mysterious places. I have, however, taken a long look at how the side skirts are attached to the car.
There are a series of fasteners (screws) along the underside of the car, and there are fasteners inside each wheel well. The visible (top) edge of the skirt is attached to the body with attachment / auto panel tape.
I'm assuming the side skirt covers the drain hole and has a corresponding drain molded into it; if so, it makes sense that the side skirt could be channeling water downhill to the next available exit.
Thanks for that, makes sense based on your description of the installation.
The main thing is the waters ending up on the ground outside the car, not inside!
