Not to rain on the accommodations parade, but my initial reply was meant to say, I'm glad you can join us, not to offer a place to stay for our fun filled weekend.

***UPDATE (01/06/17)***
Date June 10-11, 2017
From Vegas PorschePalooza/RennRun/Hangiver 996 Committee Chairman Komandant Kalash:
Proposed itinerary for Saturday, 6/10/2017. This is being copy-pasted from excel, so formatting doesn't transfer.
7:00-10:00 Meet at Las Vegas Cars and Coffee at 14200 S. Las Vegas Blvd, Las Vegas, NV 89054. Introductions, breakfast, looking at cars, socializing.
10:00-17:00 Scenic Drive through Valley of Fire Park to Overton, to Hover Damn, back to the LV. Lunch at Overton.
17:00-18:30 Free time for participants to get to their hotels, get changed, park cars, take Uber/cab to night portion of the event.
19:00-24:00+ Meet for drinks at Bond (Bond, James Bond Bar at Cosmopolitan Hotel) to start the night events, then move to Vesper for 3rd-4th round. 3708 las Vegas Blvd S, Las Vegas, NV 89109.
24:00+ Free time. Those who want to go to sleep, have that option. The rest can accompany G911 to Spearmint Rhino.
Ok, here is the proposed Sunday itinerary:
Time Sunday
10:00-11:30 Meet at Peppermill Restaurant at 2985 S Las Vegas Blvd, Las Vegas, NV 89109 for breakfast.
12:00-14:30 Karting at Las Vegas Mini Grand Prix track at 1401 N Rainbow Blvd, Las Vegas, NV 89108. $46/two hour wristband.
15:00-16:30 Free time for participants to explore, take pictures, or mingle, get changed, shop etc.
17:00-24:00+ Meet for drinks, food and final "goodbyes" at Hofbruhaus at 4510 Paradise Road, Las Vegas, NV 89169.
24:00+ Sleep or drive home time for the remaining attendees.
For karting, the cheapest option right now is for us to show up for the LVMGP and buy the $46 two hour unlimited rides band and drive race with each other and other guests. If we rent the track on Sunday, assuming we get total of 25 people then it still comes out to $120/person+food.

***END UPDATE***
Ok gents. Time to get serious. The plan is to meet in Vegas this summer. 2-3 days tops. Rent a track for a day. Allegedly go to a few strip clubs. Maybe have a beer or two, unless you are DT Miller in which case...well...you know.
Cuda will design a commemorative T Shirt that will no doubt, have a small flaw of some kind and will arrive several weeks after the event.
KC will be there so at least we have an attorney with us, you know...just in case.
5CHN3LL said he's in, I think, but he uses big words and I mostly don't understand them.
gnat might show up, but only if Gretch does too. He is a pendant after all.
I hope, I hope, I hope, Johnny Irish shows up...
Tony2 said he is in, but is unsure if he wants to leave CO during the only good month of the year.
Let's see what Macster has to say...in 10,000 words or less...
Slakker is bringing his toy hauler, so I will have my choice of 996's to track (don't want to get my pristine 997.2 dirty).
Kalash and I are in charge of organizing which means not much will really get done. We do have some new blood in Vegas that could possibly help out, but we shall see.
Looking for input on dates, whether track time is important (yawn----might cut into my drinking time), where to stay and what else to do besides Cheetah's, the Rhino and Olympic Garden.
Please discuss...
Oh, and DTM is a way smarter attorney than I am. Case in point, at 7 pm tonight, I will still be chained to my desk working with a client. He won't be.
But wait, will boobies even be
allowed
? Apparently management is anti-boobies, so is there going to be a mod following us around with a roll of black duct tape to cover up any exposed nipples?
It would be nice to see your one of a kind 997
Ideas:
- Scenic drive to Mt. Charleston. I have a beater DSLR and can do some glamour shots
- Investigate road quality in the Valley of Fire
On serious note. Let's aim this for late April-May-Early June period. So it is not too hot. Friday-Sunday.
We need firm commitments though. I'll do some research to see what weekends are not packed in Vegas so we aren't competing with "Blue Man Group" fans for hotel rooms and parking spots.
The obvious "fun" driving thing would be the Exotic Racing, but if locals have suggestions for the track. Throw them out. I just bought me a Snell 2015 helmet, so I am ready and protected.
Early June works best for me. Will be in San Diego in mid-March, Germany in late April. Will probably bring a couple of buddies with me that I typically go to Vegas with for a guys' trip and we normally do that in early June.
count me in to help
as for a drive, if this takes place in January - we won't want to goto Mt. Charleston..... lots of snow and often chains are required to go up there.
but - the Valley of Fire and or Death Valley would be great.
I do the Valley of Fire drive a lot - the valley is spectacular to look at... but this part is a State Park and they are REALLY strict about speed... so it isn't that fun to drive.....
BUT - then you exit the park and can enter Lake Mead National Park and run down lake shore drive all the way to hoover dam. No Cops and one of the smoothest and best stretches of asphalt I have ever been on.
we typically meet-up at Las Vegas Motor Speedway - head up and tour Valley of Fire, then brunch/lunch in Overton and then down through Lake Mead Park to hoover dam. total drive is about 160 miles.
I'd recommend the new Speed Vegas over Exotic. They have a purpose-built new track - haven't run it yet but have heard it's a ton of fun. they now host the local Cars and Coffee event as well
another thing to see: The Porsche Dealer in town (Gaudin) is the first official "Porsche Classics" dealer in the nation and their showroom if FULL of very expensive old Porsches..... we should each buy one.
I am not sure why I thought you guys were thinking January. but as for time of year
- yes avoid summer; its too damn hot
If you truly wanna do some track time - (4) times per year the local PCA club rents out the 3.4 mile track at Spring Mountain Motorsports Park in Pahrump - about 45 miles away from Vegas. PCA will release the dates for these events in January...... so you could try to schedule this event around a track day. BUT these track days are "full days" and there may not be that much energy and you'd have to drive about an hour back to vegas.
OR
every first Sunday of the month the Porsche club hosts a big breakfast... if trip was planned on a 1st weekend we could bring a big 996 contingent.
we could also goto Cars and Coffee - held every weekend.
Count me in
As Iko mentioned, Spring Mountain in Pahrump is a great track. Not a lot to do in Pahrump, but they do have a few casinos and for those that partake, brothels are legal there
Sounds like a blast. Memorial Weekend and the one after are out for me otherwise I'm good. If we rent a track I'll haul the toy out there. If we do a drive exotic or equivalent I'll probably just fly.
I love all of the interest in this. It has been a while since I was a part of an automotive group.
i have lived in Henderson (just outside Vegas) for a couple years now. Been to Valley of Fire a couple times. It would be great for photos as the scenery is great, but low speeds so wouldn't be a "spirited" drive in the park anyway. Same with Red Rock Canyon, not as many photo ops there either.
If if we can get the local Vegas crew on an email chain, we can throw together some plans before making things official.
Count me in to most definitely possibly consider thinking about maybe showing up if someone swings buy, drugs me, ties me up, and transports me in their frunk.
DT, while you're researching, find out what kind of buy in a slightly used golden IMSB will get me.
I feel you have insulted me or maybe you didn't insult me enough, not sure. Either way, where the hell is Gretch to deal with such things? RLOT is right, there is a Moderator Conspiracy!
P.S. I have been reminded that I do not and never have owned a 996, so I'm not allowed to attend. And to be clear, it's not the drinking, gambling, strip clubs, or track days that she has a problem with. It's you people
I'll volunteer. That actually sounds pretty fun. Now if I can just convince the police I had your permission the rest should be easy.
Sounds like a plan. I've heard the 997s have a much larger back seat so it should be all good.
Bringing this back to the front page.
How is the weekend of June 10th and 11th sound to people? If dates are set then, we need to get firm commitments from people who are going and I will reach out to locals to plan out the driving and events.
Not to question the little progress we have made so far but are there any existing DE track days would could schedule this around? Or are you thinking the exotic drive route? The later might be a lot easier to pull off.
I am thinking scenic drive day 1, followed by drinks, entertainment on the strip. Track rental for a few hours or exotic day 2.
Once date and participants are finalized, the itinerary will be easy to plan out.
Ok, I have the spreadsheet going for the attendees. 10 confirmed attendees gets this set in stone.
As far as hotels go options are: Gold Coast Hotel + Casino, Stratosphere, Monte Carlo, or Treasury Island.
Although I don't have a 996 right this moment, I am in as well. Early June the weather won't be unbearable to be out in, just a bit hot.
As as far as location, why not stay off the strip at Green Valley Ranch or the M? We can always cruise down the strip. Being local I typically stay away unless I am seeing a show.
I'm in for that. However, if my being 'in' will mean that others will be opting 'out' I can go ahead and decline. No prob.
My car will be for sale then, so I'll get lots of insurance so we can thrash the living shilt out of it, then sell it to some unsuspecting rube
(ya know - gnat, or equiv).
Couple suggestions.
Those who visit other Porsche boards please cross-pollinate this event. More the merrier.
Get a block of rooms lined up somewhere, like the Rio(I'm not a fan of the strip).
Come up with a quirky but memorable name so we can rally around it and lord it over those not in the know. I was thinking 'Porsch-gasm Vegas' - clearly, I'm not very creative.
Make this a sticky please mods/admin?
It doesn't matter where we stay as long as it's Encore, Aria or Cosmo. I do have my standards.
I will gamble anywhere as long as it's not Caesar's. I can't go back there.
Any strip club is good so long as it starts with Spearmint and ends in Rhino.
June is great since I will likely be at the pool while you guys waste your time at the track.
I'm not very picky...
Don't be so self absorbed doc. We can't wait to see if you are as grouchy of an old cuss in person as you are online! Looking forward to it!
Count me in by the way.
I was channeling my inner Groucho; 'I would not want to be a member, of any club which would have someone like me as a member'.
Oh, and get the hell off my lawn! whippersnapper.....
I am liking the constructive suggestions.
Definitely distribute this to other Porsche forums and friends.
+1 on the name idea as well. My take -
Rennrun 2017- Las Vegas
, feel free to make your own suggestions.
I will employ B3Freak to make a solid flyer once name, itinerary, and locations are finalized so that can be distributed.
Local Vegas people who are interested in helping and have suggestions for roads and events, post up and PM me with your contact #.
I will work on getting this wrapped up before the end of the year, so come 2017 the entire enterprise is set in stone.
Does the Porschepalooza Vegas Run include a track day?
Does the 996 Strip Club Run include antibiotics?
Either way, I'm game.
And with enough people on two-way radios and a concerted effort, some triple digit runs could happen without you-know-who citing anyone. What a second! Did I write that or just think that? Never mind... sort of
G911, can you edit your original post to keep track of the "confirmed" attendees?

Cool ^^. Iko, do you have any color on the LVMS rates? I am thinking of renting both the short circuit and drag strip for 2-3 hours on Sunday. If you can get any color on that, would appreciate it.
Well, I guess I'll be there one way or another. If I sell my car I'll come over anyway or might have a coupe by then.
Won't need a place to stay though as I will stay with friends.
Saturday itinerary looks great Kalash, should be a fun one. I'm probably headed down to Vegas again for a long Christmas weekend and some climbing at Red Rock. Get to take the 996 this time, will post a pic of the awesome roads in case anyone's on the fence.
I would love to join in this (and live within very reasonable driving distance), but I don't have much interest in a June time frame. Count me in on a 'cooler' time of year in Vegas.
sorry for delay in reply
I do know some people at LVMS and can check... but I don't think we'll like it. Local Porsche club once did events there and the costs went out of control.
I can ask for a ballpark figure
Good info Iko.
Right now for "driving" event on Sunday, I am 50/50 between track rental for us and doing go-kart racing for couple of hours. With Karts, everyone will get to drive and chances of someone ending up with big $$$ due to engine failure are low.

I'm definitely possibly maybe still considering thinking about possibly considering the idea of perhaps studying the feasibility of conceivably checking if the weather would permit surely ... oh fvck, what was I talking about?
I'm probubly in, just can't plan that far ahead right now
As far as a nice inexpensive hotel, The Tuscany is a winner. All rooms are like suites and its a garden style hotel 3 story buildings with the parking lot right outside, so you can park your own car and not have to walk a mile to get to your room.
I have stayed there a few times for trade shows
I'll be staying at the tent sites at Boulder beach campground. I'm gonna split cost with an immigrant family and save $5 nite. Being that it's June, and the campground closed their showers last year, I might be kind of 'fragrant' by Sat afternoon. Maybe someone will kick in a card key(if they stand close to me), from one of their suites on the strip. If not, one of you can grab me one of those little bars in the bath and I'll just use the lake. Vegas baby.....
This Vegas thing appears to have quickly devolved from a Porsche enthusiast event into a booze drenched, stripper chasing weekend of debauchery. It's always nice to have something to look forward to. Perhaps a practice run prior to June is in order. You know, just to make sure we get it right.
"Devolved? It never started as anything else..."
Silly me. I'm a little slow on the uptake. I also have a conveniently poor memory, which will serve me well on the follow-up interrogation when I return home.
Back to the front. Spread this out to 997/991 and friends. I will try to bring a few non-Porsche guys with me, so we have some quick cars
Wishing everyone a great New Year, celebrate drunk and safe my friends!
Put me down for a tentative maybe it is potentially conceivable that I perhaps might perchance possibly attend.
The 914 group is having our annual West Coast Rally up to Mammoth Lakes June 1 through 4. That means I need to make it back from Mammoth, then prep and head out to Vegas only a few days later.
Somewhere amongst that time, I need to actually work. Unlike DT, I didn't find an ambulance to chase that had cash billowing out of the back doors.
I'll work up some T-shirt designs.
Kalash, the Karting sounds like a great idea. Prolly much easier to coordinate than a real track event.
Of course, we can do Exotics Racing, but I've already done that there. Gets a bit spendy, and not really a great group activity. Plenty of fun, though.
.
As to hotel... definitely not Circus Circus, even though plenty of clowns will be in attendance. Parking reeks at lots of the Strip hotels, but I do like the Strip. As mentioned above, North Las Vegas has really stepped up the game. I'd vote for something up there by Fremont Street. Golden Nugget is a good choice. Blocks and blocks of sidewalk boozatoriums like this:
Golden Goose may work its way into the itinerary, and no need to drive back to a hotel... just stagger away in the approximate general direction.
Even some stuff Slakker might enjoy.
WTF Mike?!?!? That's my schtick. Next you'll be gold plating something I suppose...
Well if you all head out by 11am you'll all be broken down by 11:03am so that shouldn't present too much of a planning problem for you.
Which will be ready in August and say 2019...
Holy ****
How the fvck did I forget about the Slakker "girl" jokes
Kalash...you are doing a fine job coordinating our meetup! Kudos to you.
Glad to see it will be well attended, at least in spirit. If it's one thing we all have in common after owning a 996...we don't mind blowing a little cash and we sure as hell like to gamble...
(I know 5CHN3LL...that was actually 2 things...)
T-Shirt design has begun!!!!
Will keep you posted on cost.... since it will be a small run, the printer may have a minimum fee.
Mr. Honzo, with the attendees list, of which you are the chief maintainer thereof, get people's shirt sizes and number of shirts. Just add it next to the names.
You can also make a list below the attendees list, for those who may want a shirt but won't be attending 2017 Las Vegas PorschePalooza.
Will do. I will wait until you post the prototype before I begin the hype. I strongly recommend that you only offer it in vomit-brown, that way Kalash can wear his all weekend...
EDIT...nevermind. I forgot Kalash does not wear shirts...
Great catch. If I wear a shirt, no-one will recognize me and all will be lost. So I will have to remain shirtless for the duration of the event.
Edit: Great design Mike! It's a first for a t-shirt showing a proper installation of the IMS bearing on the rear mounted engine.
That shirt won't be complete until the top horse has a Porsche insignia on it, and the bottom horse has "Your mom" written across it.
Oops! I meant "Any other car" written across it. I blame the beer for that (practice alibi #1 on the trip)
apologies - I have been away for holidays
I have looked into some things: First - as far as a real track rental - near impossible due to insurance requirements.
It seems dates have been picked for the 996 weekend - but if the group really wants "track time" - I suggest waiting till the local P club rents out Spring Mountain and we can join them
there is a slight chance I could arrange for us to do "parade laps" at Spring Mountain - at safe speed behind a pace car... this was a kind offer - but that's a long drive down there and back for only parade laps.
Cars and Coffee would be willing to set-up a special area for our group - I know the guy that runs it and can easily arrange for this.
the drive we have planned for after C&C will be great!
So, I'm planning to fly in Thursday evening, June 8th, departing early evening Sunday, June 11th. So, would have Friday, Saturday and until late Sunday afternoon for activities.
Anybody up for a Celine Dion show?
If I go, I'll show up on Friday.
Why settle for just Celine, when we can see Diana Ross, Cher and Madonna to today's hottest talents, including Katy Perry, Britney and Rihanna.
B3 came through with an awesome flyer for the web. Give him a hand. I think it looks epic!
G911, please add this to the first post.
Everyone else, do post it up across other boards to get awareness up.
I'm surprised that insurance is the thing preventing a track rental. It's not hard or that expensive to rent a track for the day in Michigan. A couple thousand, gets you the track, flaggers, and ems on site
I'm really close to being a definite maybe.
If I go, we can meet up on the 15 east of LA and caravan it from there. If JayG attends, he can join us too. Of course, he may want to make a move on you.
We ain't in Kansas, Toto. I think earlier someone looked into it and it was about $20K for a day in Vegas. Something on that order or cost. Who here has that info.?
The cart track at Las Vegas Speedway looks fun. I wonder how much that is to rent for a few hours or half a day.
It says the track is configurable. I suggest a figure 8 configuration. The middle intersection makes things much more interesting.
I am super excited! I can't wait to put some names and faces together. Although based off the video Some Russian guy posted from his trip, we might have seen enough of certain faces!
Sure did bucko
For starters, anything on the GWIT996F needs to be taken with an entire salt shaker.
Have you read through all 12,000+ posts?
The context was relating to the number of posts in that thread
The one I bought was listed on the 6spd online forum. Car is in North Carolina. Someone here had pasted the link on RL. It's a black 99. Meticulously kept. Had the PPI done yesterday. Checked out great with the only issue being P1123 and P1125 codes which the seller was upfront about so I knew going in. I've already ordered a new MAF. Couldn't be happier. Gonna be a long 10 day wait!
Oh yea, you bought this one...
http://www.6speedonline.com/forums/a...oupe-sale.html
I remember that link...
Ok, so you bought for $24K and you got to enjoy two parties ... prolly got free booze and now a 10 day training exercise to promote patience and self control. I get it.
Ha!
I do the drive at least once per month.... only bummer is they are REALLY strict about speed (in state park).... one you leave VOF and head into the federal park - you can go much faster
Holy ****!!!
I just caught myself seriously considering this thing... WTF is wrong with me???
If I show up, I'll be the guy in the blue Cayenne driving by and giving you all the finger
I pretty much figured that you'd be the guy in the beige Prius driving at 25 mph in front of us.
Update: T-Shirt design is coming along well!!! Right now, I'm calling it PorschePallooza, since that was the first name. B3's flyer calls it RennRun.
What name do you guys want for it?
^^^My graphic was originally called "PorschePallooza 2017", because I remembered the title of this thread. I can easily change it in the graphic if ya'll want to. Kalash called it "RennRun" in his email to me.
Won't find one of those POSes in our stable
996, e90, 958
Virginia will also be happy to confirm that "slow" and "speed limit" are not things I'm familiar with
We got stuck with a rental Prius once out in SFO. And they call the Cayenne a Pig? Good god that thing was a POS that couldn't get out of it's own way!
IkoIko911, can you please speak to the C&C people about giving us a separate section on Saturday?
I am talking to karting places right now about pricing and catering. LV Mini Grand Prix is $1,500/hour ($800/hour during weekday) for track rental on Sunday + catering. I will have a full pricing from their GM some time early next week. Pole Position karting is $3,000/hour + catering, which I think is way too much.
Mike, please use "RennRun 2017" on the shirts. For reasoning, you can PM me.
G911, please update the first page with the Sunday's itinerary and latest attendees list.
For karting, the cheapest option right now is for us to show up for the LVMGP and buy the $46 two hour unlimited rides band and drive race with each other and other guests. If we rent the track on Sunday, assuming we get total of 25 people then it still comes out to $120/person+food.
Attached are the pricing sheets from LVMGP.

Itinerary looks good, thanks for putting it together. I reminded my SO last night about this and the only condition is that she'll be attending as well. So likely no fat stacks of $1s, but the other events look fun.
Mission Accomplished Komrade. Why isn't 5CHN3LL's name on the list?
I am sensing a lot of structure to this event. Just so we are clear, I will see you all at the "Welcome to the First Annual RennRun PorschePalooza Hangover 996 Cocktail Party". After that, we may never see each other again...unless you like strippers, pool parties and craps...
Correct Mike, you figured this out first ^^. Replace tanks with Porsches on the strip and we shall make News of Russian Army invading Las Vegas.
I will ride like a Politburo Chief in the Back of the Mercedes...with my panoramic roof off, while waiving at the crowds. Soviet Flags will be on the wings of the Mercedes to give this a more official feel.
You Tube
I will need someone to pick me up at the airport Thursday night. I will buy the first round for whoever steps up. Your choice of strip clu . . ., err, drinking establishment.
Well I wouldn't go that far! I do have a couple spare rooms and can accommodate tents in the back yard! Still think it would be fun to do a BBQ at my place if there is time.
B3, when you have time can you you please create the "back" side for the flyer.
Same size as the front. On the back, I would like to have the itinerary listed for both days and contact e-mail of
[email removed]
. Background is up to you, as you picked a great option for the front.
Once back is done, I will order the laminated 1/4 page flyers made for everyone at the event.
Sample of how I would like the flyer to be organized: Saturday itinerary on the left, Sunday on the right. RennRun 2017 on the top, dates under it like the first page. Contact e-mail where the URL for HIN is.
Feel free to PM or e-mail me if you have any Qs. Really appreciate your help with this man!
Speaking of back side, the shirt I'm designing will have front and back graphics. That will up the cost some, so you cheap SOBs better be ready to pay an extra 10 bucks or so.
You may want to reword that, or add a comma.
As a "deplorable" I will be staying at the Trump Towers.
Tentative plan; link up with a few SoCal 996 hot rods and blast out Thursday mid day and beat the crush.
You guys ever heard the term "butt chugging"? I did for the first time today and had to look it up on the line...it's real and I can't believe people actually do it.
Back page of the flyer containing itinerary is ready! Courtesy of B3.
G911, can you please post this to the first post. Also, move both images to the top of that post so they are the first two things people see.
Thanks!
Looks great! This will be a fun trip. My crystal ball says there will be booze-a-plenty and young (they're all young to me!) stripper wimmins in my future. Very nice!
5th line down "Hover Damn" should be "Hoover Dam." Hover be damned!
Yea, I noticed that and left it as is... I was thinkin' Gonzo was using his sardonic sense of humor. But I told Kalash I would be happy to change any of the text including the "Hover Damn" line.
Out of curiosity, what's the average Vegas RLister attendee age? I'll be 45 by June. Im thinking my best EDM concert days are behind me. Strip clubs on the other hand........
Perfect! So now all i have to do is get hammered, point at the girl I think is too drunk to see straight, and send Kalash over to carry her back to me. It's good to have some youth on our team. I'm buying Kalash drinks and bringing a laser pointer.
Spread the word. Physical flyers/cards are on order. The front side actually makes for a decent swag image. Notebooks, cups, shirts looks very neat with it.
Another thing, please post in the thread or PM me if you are driving your car, flying in, or renting something in LV. Car brand and model (ie Porsche 997, Geo Metro, Pink Pony (Schnell)).
IF
I go, I'll drive the 996 there. I think the brand is Prosh or something similar.
Pretty sure Kalash is half the age of the rest of the wheezers and geezers that will be in attendance, but all act like 13 year olds, so that levels the playing field.
If I go I'll use some form of transport to get there as my fat *** isn't walking 2400 miles...
Probably not a boat though, but you never know I guess. Anything is possible when hell freezes over.
I am being serious about transportation mode, since Iko is trying to get us the dedicated section at the cars and coffee. So the # of cars in attendance is important.
If you show up in the rental Chrysler 200 from Hertz, you pick up the tab for the first round of drinks everywhere we go. No exception. You can rent 911 from Hertz, or go all out like your truly with the Shelby!
Got you down in Prosh 996 Mike.
Do you need to know my physical age or my mental age?
I will be flying. Staying at the Encore.
Somebody can have my slot for Cars and Coffee, kart racing and the drive thru the Valley of Fire.
I will however be at the Bond Bar at Cosmo. Vesper? Maybe, but I will likely be at XS at the Wynn/Encore unless I stay too late at the Rhino.
I will be playing Sunday by ear...
Disappointed ^^. Man up and drive the G911 car to LV. With KC flying in, and you leaving the 997.2 home...both the fastest and quickest Porsche at the Porsche meet will be a four door Mercedes.
If you are driving over from CA, I highly recommend trying to drive the section of CA 168 between CA 395, just south of Bishop, over to NV 266 to US 95 down to Las Vegas. That section of CA 168 is an Amazing Drive! Did it last summer in my 968 and had a blast! "E" Ticket ride!
Maybe we need to create a prize for someone who drives the furthest to get to the meet. Ideas for the prize are welcomed.
I am thinking about IMS bearing or a bottle of ORANGE capped DT40.
Latest attendee list:
G911, please update the first post with the list and post the two flyers at the beginning of the post in place of the text itineraries.
I'll be in Vegas from Thu. afternoon until Monday a.m. during this event.
Anybody needs an airport taxi, I'll be happy to help.
Drop me a PM for my contact info.
Eddie
You get to meet in person and ask for that Mike. Plus, gives great plausible deniability. If FBI and CIA task forces capture us, no-one will be able to snitch on others.
Agent Smith: So you claim that Slakker and DTM defaced the monument and Kalash served as a getaway driver? And TonyTwoBags was the lookout?
KCattorney: I take the 5th.
I spoke with Soloman who runs Cars and Coffee.... he will make Porsche the "mark-of-the week" so we can park in the reserved area under the shade awnings.
it will also be open to local Porsche drivers as well - and spots fill up quickly...so plan to get there as close to 7am as possible.
Got the list updated.
G911, update the first post with flyer and latest attendee counts please.
Cuda, how is the shirt design coming along? Right now I am showing 20 attendees and ~5 guests in attendance.
T-shirts are in design mode. Will be two-sided. Details will follow. So, are most staying on the strip or in North LV by Freemont? We should definitely have an evening at Freemont! Zip-lining!!!!
Haven't booked my hotel, but most likely will maybe possibly attend.
PM me your address Hawk, I will send you one.
Mike, the most up-to-date information about the lodging is posted at the top of the page. I am not too familiar with Vegas, I know I am in Hilton Suites.
I am going to do the Stratosphere Jump on Saturday after midnight, so no zip-lining for me.
OK, no prob. I've been to Vegas many, many times. Freemont Street is something that should be scheduled in. It's several enclosed blocks of dozens of sidewalk bars, two strip clubs, street performers, sidewalk bands, freaks, naked ladies, and is basically the same as the GWITNNSF thread.
What's the best arrive and drive track experience in Vegas? I liked Dream Racing but looks like there are a few others now. I've got a meeting out there in a few weeks and was going to grab some laps in some pcars while I'm in town.
the newer one: Speed Vegas has a dedicated purpose built track. The Exotics one at at Las Vegas Motor Speedway turned a large parking lot into a track.
both have incredible cars to drive
Speed Vegas is more involved with local car community/culture - they host Cars and Coffee, etc.
Is a Hover Dam something like the Hover Van? If so, I'm in.
Cuda, Jay, et al: Are we caravaning? Might as well rack up some tickets Super Speeders-style on the way...
Heh. That was awesome. Nicely done. I imagine we'll be arguing over who gets to throw down their AAA card for the next tow.
I believe he is currently trading his way up to a Targa that doesn't run - which is really an ideal situation for everyone. If you buy a roller, you no longer have to get into arguments about how Tip is functionally equivalent to PDK.
Wow, that's a cool graphic on that RennRun flyer Kalash and co. Whomever created that should get complementary travel and accommodations for this event.
Yeah, was going to head out Thursday night with a couple of buddies. At this point though, looks like I may be going solo, so probably won't fly out til Friday since none of you guys are arriving before then.
I realize these dates don't line up..... BUT, a ton of you mentioned wanting to get some track time and the Porsche Club has set up registration for the March 18-19 event...
so if any of you wanna get your baby on track - here's a great chance the run the 3.4 layout
I will just post the info direct from the club email... hopefully the links still work.

Our second Spring Event will be May 27-28, also at Spring Mountain on the 3.4-mile layout. We are working on Fall dates in September and November.
Spring Mountain is a great track
The CDI Scott Mann from the Las Vegas chapter does a great "Hayride" Sat after the track goes cold. You ride around the track on a trailer and he goes over the track and gives you an incredible amount of info on the line and grip
The hotels in Pahrump suck
'
there are a limited number of condo rentals available at the track - I've been able to rent one the past few track days. they are small effeciency apartments basically.
It is really nice though - on the really hot days - you can go grab a shower at lunch before the afternoon session.
they are building a new marriot branded hotel right outside the track - construction starts later this year.
the 3.4 layout the run is a TON of fun, here's a lap in my base Boxster last year:

Schnell, I don't think most people will get that reference here ^^.
When they try to google the the game in question from their work computers, the hilarity will ensure.
I think the only places the cameras will be allowed are the C&C and Scenic Drive. Everything after is off limits. Or you use the "bigfoot" cameras so that you can't identify the perpetrator of the crime.
Although even scenic drive has a chance to morph into something like this, with APB being called on "individuals racing sports cars across state park":

That pretty much nails it. I don't usually play blackjack, but when I do...its combative. Its amazing how many people get mad at you when you split tens and win both hands, and they lose. Its like you took THEIR card or something. Some guy told me that once and I told him, "No...that wasn't your card, that was MY card," as I pointed at it. Another guy, after seeing me split tens told the dealer, "I'll be back." I told the dealer, "No he won't..."
This is gonna be fun!

I split 10s once. At a $1 blackjack table in Laughlin, NV back in 1990 during desert strike warfare training. Crappy little backwater casino next to the Navy base. Almost got my *** kicked by a 70 year old local - might have even been a woman (it's all a little foggy by now). But I know I'll never split 10s again.
You know when you are sitting at a blackjack table and you get "that feeling"? You know, that something-something in the pit of your stomach that says "I know the Dealer is showing a 3, but I've got two face cards. All I need are two more face cards or...just take what I get and let the Dealer bust. Fu#k it! I'm going for it!!!!"
The bonus is when you get to hear the Dealer yell to the Pit Boss, "SPLITTIN' 10's!!!" Plus, the look on everyone's face is priceless...
Valley of Fire
Red Rock Canyon
So just to give out of towners an idea of a couple different places, I took my boys to Red Rock Canyon and Valley of Fire and thought I would share a couple pics. See you in June!
There aren't many engineers or scientists at the gaming tables. The one time I talked to a pit boss about odds I got out my calculator, and he said 'look, if you are gonna use a calculator to figure the best odds, just go play blackjack and accept the house is favored in all games a little'. Made sense, so I played blackjack for about 3 hours and lost $70. It was a decent $23/hour lesson is something I already knew. Players don't 'win'.

I'm on the bubble for the list. Kids are going on a school trip and wife wants to sneak in a mini-vacation that week. I still may able to sneak out for Sunday though.
996 will be my chariot for this. Not sure about the hotel yet, but I'll probably book at Trump Tower & renege on the bill claiming it didn't meet my standards.
It's my understanding the waiters are sadists. At any moment they can impose their will of meatloaf for all.
Correction: Nm, I was thinking of POTUS, not the staff.
My crystal ball has just informed me that we're just two months out from booze, blow, ***** and buffets in Vegas. Oh yeah, and some car stuff, as well! Okay, just kidding about the blow thing. I must be getting old. Really old!
Yep, two months to D-day. I need to write out some rules/regulations brochure just in case. If someone got a few CB radios they can bring, that would be great too; for cops and in-case someone pulls Mike.
For me from 40 mph, it takes about 5 seconds to start looking at Criminal speeding. So let's all be careful in NV.
You Tube
For clarification - CB, or FRS (the little family radios they sell everywhere now)?
I also have a couple of handheld ham radios (Yaesu and BaoFeng) that should let us listen in on PD/Highway Patrol frequencies. I'll check the Vegas LEO channels before the trip so we can have a couple of radios listening for 5-0. Phone apps like 5-0 Radio Pro are nearly as good and don't require walking around in public with a ham radio (which should be avoided unless you WANT to lead a life of celibacy and despair).
If you have a scanner app like 5-0 Radio Pro and your car is bluetooth-capable, live audio streaming of LEO updates is pretty reassuring.
No clue about CB or FRS difference. If it works and we can hand them out to a few designated radio cars, I am for it.
Police band radio would be great too.
I think we found our designated HAM operator!
You will be wearing this at all times while in Vegas, Mike! Congrats on earning this important coveted duty!
From now on, we will refer to Mike only via his codename ("Radar.")
We're going to need...a dank meme.
*DISCLAIMER* I was too young to "get" MASH, although I did appreciate the liquor references, constant sexual tension, and my first exposure to people on TV who weren't as funny as they thought they were. This was groundbreaking at the time and paved the way for brave souls like Rodney Dangerfield and Andrew Dice Clay.
Bad news all. I couldn't get the top 10 to come out to NV with us
.
But bottom 30 are coming out to play under the sun and enjoy wealthy American men's company.

This is really lame, but I will not be able to attend the 2017 Las Vegas RennDrunk. Even though I started this thread, Kalash gets all the credit. I could make up a bunch of lame excuses, but Mrs. Gonzo has other plans for me that weekend, and the only two words I know is, "Yes Dear".
Send pics or video. After all, what happens in Vegas...is posted on Facebook within 30 seconds...
following this thread in the shadows for months...figuring if I should burn or if I have $5k for this event...I cannot help but say, "HAPPY WIFE...HAPPY LIFE"
Hey Pmkazz plans on attending provided I do not get called away on business. i will be driving my 996 shown below and staying at home here in LV.. Thanks guys..
We could use a getaway pilot ^^. The F&F runway scene with bunch of Porsches and a Mercedes driving onto the cargo 747 taking off from the landing strip is entirely possible.

Kalash -- great pic. Is it:
a) North Korea using the Nevada Test Range for its nucular (as "W" would say) program?
b) Another M96 engine blowing its IMS (or suffering from any of the other 27 failure modes)
c) ???
Just mother nature providing an appropriate backdrop to two boxer engines meeting in the wild. This is looking E from mount Lemmon at Sunset. So sun was hitting a very unusual cloud just the right way.
Hella late response, but I've managed to shuffle things around and I'll be able to join ya'll! Still need to sort out my hotel/couch/whatnot situation but that shouldn't be too much of a challenge.
Not to rain on the accommodations parade, but my initial reply was meant to say, I'm glad you can join us, not to offer a place to stay for our fun filled weekend.
Not sure how that came to be and sorry for the confusion my reply caused. Plus, I live in AZ even though my screen name might give people the impression I live in Lost Wages.
Eddie
I wonder if anyone who is attending is called .... Doug? We may lose you.
Also, Stu, Alan, Phil...and Mr. Chow...if you exist, please identify yourself. With Alan, I suspect it is Schenell.
Went to see Wayne Newton's private collection today. The H2 was the last one that rolled off the assembly line and he bought it for $1. Rolls Royce, Bentley, etc. and he still drives them all.
Wayne newtons plane was in Michigan for a refit, he couldn't afford the bill so it sat on the runway for years. The company that did the refit sold it to a third party. Wayne newton is an assh@le
Just a gentle reminder that we're approximately 30 days out from Vegas inebriation. And since Nevada is now legally a recreational marijuana consumption state, the state of inebriation will undoubtedly (allegedly) include such reckless behavior among some. *****, booze, cannabis, gambling, fast cars and faster women. What could possibly go wrong? I see a major win on the horizon! ;-)
Speaking of the shirts, finalizing the design now. The back will have a "word cloud" with some notable phrases. I have a list, but if you have any additional suggestions, post 'em up here pronto!
Sorry, couldn't quite read what ya'll posted - I can barely keep my phone straight on the steering wheel and people keep getting in my way on the freeway. Sigh. =D
UPDATE:
I spoke with the new guy who runs Cars and Coffee this morning.
Confirmed that we will have the front area reserved and got some NEW EXCITING NEWS.
We will be led on some parade laps on the track at Speed Vegas. You won't be able to go that fast - will be a line following the pace car.... but we will be able to drive as a group on the track.
also, I have had some other stuff come up for that weekend, so I won't be able to go on the entire drive on Saturday. I will be at C&C.
I am bummed to miss that drive on saturday - so if anyone is in town early and wants to take a mini drive on Friday - let me know.
T-shirt design is being finalized. Will post pix and ordering info later this week.
In the mean time, I have lined up the entertainment. Enjoy the buffet.
Ok gentlemen. Hotel booked. Staying at the Four Seasons, cuz ya know.... I'm classy AF! Speaking of, who is the titty bar captain???? And where's my T-Shirt!
G911 is visiting the Blue Oyster Bar instead of Pink Rhino, after he completes the round of golf with his partner.
Mike is working his evil magic on the shirt. His first draft was rather unimpressive.
Renrunn 2017 convoy. Schnell on the air-guitar.
Kewl. I'm gonna leave LA around 3am. Plan is to stay awake for 24hrs, pop an ambien and party with you fellas till the wee hours. Just tell me where to meet for the C&C.
I'm in for Saturday. Staying at an airbnb as I'm combining this with visiting family in the area... though I know which portion of the trip will be more fun.
Alrighty, shirt design is done. I don't know the price, since it will depend on the number of shirts ordered.
I will be selling them at cost.
OK, let me know size and how many you want. I have to get the order in to the printer right away.
Order extras for friends (as if you had any), family, and your local homeless population.
FRONT:
BACK:
Looks awesome Mike! Two large blue shirts.
Someone, buy an extra gray shirt...we all will sign it and send it to KC's museum. It would be a cool piece of memorabilia.
I think I can order whatever colors I want. I have a great local printer that is very helpful. Some colors may not work well, since the graphics won't show up.
OK, let's get a list going:
Cuda911: Two large shirts, one blue and one gray
Eddie Las Vegas: Two large shirts, one blue and one gray
Kalishnikov: Two large blue shirts
KCesquire: One gray XXL shirt
Gnochi: One large gray shirt
Schnelly: One 2x and one 3x to use as seat cover. (grey)
FlatSixMusic: One 2x (grey)
996AE: One large. (color?)
KoB: one blue and one gray, both 3XL
SneakyPete: One grey xxl, maybe, depending on price
If you don't have a picture it didn't happen. I'm not a Vegas kind of person, but if you actually have a tee shirt with my picture on it, I might consider buying one. Might. Maybe. But not probably.
It was decided to go with a younger person on the T-Shirt; after careful selection, the committee selected Frankenstein - but you
were
fourth runner up.
Those are two different gray shirts. If it's the top gray shirt, I'll take one XXL please. If it's the bottom gray shirt, I'll instead take one XXL in dark blue. Thanks for all of the effort in doing this, Cuda.
Cuda911,
Does the t-shirt provider have a web site where we can see colors?
I was trying to keep it simple by taking a gray and blue, but two grays makes it tougher.
Thanks,
Eddie
The images are just generic t-shirts from the internet. The printer has a zillion colors and styles of shirts to choose from. A catalogue abiut 3 inches thick. I want to make things easy, but will see if he can accomodate special requests. Will report back.
Thanks Mike.
Why not keep it simple and limit our choices to 1 or 2 styles and 6 colors? And then post those so we have an idea what we're getting.

Pardon my extreme irkedness, but I'm being sent to Detroit for a few weeks. I couldn't convince them to fly me back for the weekend's shenanigans.
@Cuda: if a straggler wants my shirt, they're welcome to it; otherwise, I'll settle up at your convenience.
I believe you've utilized the word "fat" in posts in this thread far too frequently and without regard for the feelings of morbidly obese children that would never read this, but if they did, could be irreparably harmed from such reckless behavior.
Where's that Timex or Casio guy when you need him? He was far better at feigned outrage over nothing than I am. Anyway, safe-space and Xanax for everyone!
I plan to head to sin city Friday morning. Hope to avoid LA traffic. Plan is to stay until Monday in hope of avoiding Sunday crush back.
If anyone else from SoCal is heading out Friday morning let me know. Might be cool to run out in a group.
Kalash - At this point I have to cancel. Long story, not worth wasting your time with. If we do this next year, I will be there come hell or high water. Thanks for your efforts in pulling this whole thing together.
Of course, I don't have a Porsche at the moment, and can't travel to the event, but would love to have the t-shirt to remember you nut cases having fun!
This, amigos, is NOT how the 996 crowd is supposed to represent.
I would sell my third nut to make it to this shindig. Hell, I'd even sell Jay's other kidney and Grandpa Irish's last "Nolex."
C'mon, guys! Dig deep, make some sacrifices! It's not just about us, the strippers need to eat too! I'm giving up on riding up to Humboldt for the Redwood Run, which unfortunately falls on the same weekend, just so I can party with you Porsh miscreants. See? Sacrifice! I'm bringing what's left of my liver, and I'm planning on abusing it!
But all ball-busting aside, life happens, so I get it.
hey guys - I've been offline a bit (family sadness going on)
I am planning to be at Cars and Coffee on Sat and the carts on Sunday. (have some other things that weekend)
I am taking that Friday off, so if anyone is in town early and wants to drive up and cool off atop Mt. Charleston - let me know

I had a VERY unhealthy obsession on a teenage girl named Aiko once. Thankfully, I was also a teenager at the time, so the authorities did not need to be involved. And I found another teenage girl who was much more interested in showing me her giblets, so everything worked out perfectly for all parties. Well, except maybe for the chick who let me see her naked, but that's her fault for being a terrible judge of character.

Beautiful weather after the sun goes down!
What's up everyone?
My name's Adam, I'm from the Las Vegas area and I saw the announcement about this meet in our PCA newsletter. I have an '03 dark teal metallic 996 Carrera and would like to meet with you guys Saturday & Sunday. I see some guys are flying in, so I can take a +1 in my car for driving events if anyone wants to ride in this:
A lil' DTM goodness:
Please let me know who I should give my details to so I can attend. Looking forward to meeting everyone!
Hey Adam, great color and great looking car.
I will add you to the list. The itinerary and flyers have been posted a few times on the earlier pages.
And props to whoever got this into the PCA letter in NV!
Hawk, I am driving to LV from Phoenix after work on Friday. I am staying in a hotel with a buddy who is flying in on Friday.
BTW, your license plate "SCHNELL" will have a buddy from California.
I got that listed, I had planned to get up and make an announcement about it this Sunday at the monthly club breakfast - but I am gonna have to miss it..... I will make sure someone announces it....
PCA club in LV is great - will probably have a good number join for C&C and the drive up to VAlley of Fire.
MTM
@Cuda911
: Thank you! Sure, I'll grab a blue shirt in XL, please. I will PM you my address and I'll pay as soon as I get your Paypal/Venmo/Whatever
@Kalashnikov
: Thanks! I found the flyer. There is a Guards 996 Turbo and a Black/Dark Grey 997 Carrera S that park in my garage. I'll go slip one under their wipers with my card and hopefully they'll reach out.
@HawkFan#12 & IkoIko911
I'd be willing to meet up *slightly* ahead of time, haha. It's going to be an early morning.

as I mentioned, I won't be able to lead the drive after C&C on Saturday.
so I've mapped it out on Google for everyone.....
but basically, start at Speed Vegas, onto Valley of Fire State Park, onto Sugars Home Plate in Overton to eat, back into Lake Mead National Park to the Hoover Dam
Got some bad news. Wife got laid off today. Probably not prudent if I go drop $1K or more in Vegas next weekend. Frikkin blows but I gotta bow out. Have fun you guys and make sure to post pics of the shenanigans.
Exactly 7 days from this very moment, I will be in Las Vegas and will have undoubtedly enjoyed at least one Bloody Mary for breakfast. So it is written, so it shall be done.
And the top on my cab is giving me grief, so I'll be driving my turbo coupe if I can't get it sorted out in time. But either way, breakfast Bloody Marys are going to happen.
Looking forward to the vegas trip ,going to service my car this weekend.I'm going to get into vegas friday morning .Anyone arriving friday and wants to hook up let me know.
After a fruitless wild goose-chase for an antique motorcycle in South Dakota 2 years ago, I stopped off here
https://www.caesars.com/caesars-pala...t#.WTW0baNHah8
on the way back to SoCal for the best buffet that I've ever experienced. I ate more delicious lamb chops than should be legal, and went into a meat coma soon thereafter. I'm game for a repeat if anyone else is. Just sayin'. (Probably because I'm starving right now)
Might have to arrive a day early and hangout a day or two extra. I've heard there are some good fun (fun with a 'g') shops in Vegas, as well.
Serious post about the meet, and I will give this speech again before we depart from the C&C.
For the cruise portion and driving around town, please obey the speed-limits and do NOT engage in the impromptu drag racing or reckless driving! We are there to have fun, and enjoy the weekend, not to get tickets or arrests. Everyone knows that we are in cars that can do 2x the speed-limit anywhere in the state!
If one person gets stopped, it is 99% likely that all of us will get pulled over as the group. I don't want anybody ****ing around and us ending up on the news for crashing or for racing. This is categorical! Same goes for drinking and driving. If you are participating in the night portion of the activities, leave the car in the hotel and take a cab or uber. I don't want anyone getting a DUI or crashing the car!
I don't want ANYONE being stupid while driving! 20+ Porsches will attract attention by themselves, driving fast will create negative publicity and bad perception not for just Porsche drivers but for car guys everywhere.
I am dead serious about this! Do not **** around, and do not test the boundaries on this. I want this to be clean, safe fun. Not being stupid and ending up in financial or legal trouble!
since I won't be joining the drive.... some advise
DO NOT speed in Valley of Fire State Park. the park police will pull you for going 5 over.... but that's a small part of the drive... just keep it down while you're in the State Park,
Once you get into federal land - Lake Mead National Park..... due to cutbacks, there aren't a lot of patrols.
The road is AMAZING... a perfectly smooth ribbon of asphalt...... long straights and wide sweeping turns - with fantastic views.
You might be able to open it up in the park..... just keep a low profile.... there will not be a lot of traffic. so don't ride a tourist's *** and have 15 cars come flying by... that person could call a ranger - just be respectful.
there probably will be some local porsche club members who do the drive all the time and know the drill.
y'all have fun
I'm blaming anything that I get caught for on the guy in the Mercedes.
My speedo doesn't work, and honest, I thought it was just soda in that can.
And thanks for the experienced heads-up, Iko.

Itinerary will be passed around on Saturday at C&C.
I am now cranky that I was playing pool and lost two games with easy 8 ball positions. I won total 10-2, but it could have been 12-0.
Update: I'm driving in to Vegas after work Friday; I'll be at Harrah's on Friday and Saturday nights.
If the power cuts out in Las Vegas sometime next weekend, it will likely be the AC freezing up because of the thermostat setting in my room. Sorry about that...I like it COLD. I expect to drill nipple holes through the sheets. I can take and sign some 8x10 glossies for $5 each. I will NOT bring 8x10 glossies for just $10 each. Let me know.
Looking forward to this weekend. Is anyone bringing their wife/significant other with them?
Also, not sure if addressed prior, there is an entrance fee to Valley of Fire. Not sure about the Lake Mead portion of the drive.
And the weather is cooling down for you guys. I wasn't going to have the top down but this looks like perfect weather:
You know...now that I thought about it. We got 20+ 170mph cars in Vegas. We should pull the Bellagio job. Run in, grab $100MM, $5MM per nose. Then scamble out of the casino, towards Mexican border. They can't catch us. Plan?
Would be one hell of a success story. I am the one with the biggest trunk, so $100MM fits just right inside of it. I got 20 Porches behind me to run interference. No one in their right mind would suspect the lowly Mercedes as the money car. Porsches get pulled over one by one, no one has the money. DA lets everyone go due to insufficient evidence. We reconvene a month later, you get your $5MM lunch bags.
Yeah, but right after you guys scramble out of the casino with the loot, 15 of the 20 Porsches will crap their IMS bearings on their way outta the parking garage, so . . .
the entrance fee into Valley of Fire is $10 for non-NV residents and $8 for NV residents.
As for Lake Mead...... if you were to enter the park at the south gate (where hoover dam is - you'd have to pay about $20 to get in) But the office at the North Gate (where y'all will enter) has been closed for over 2 years due to all the cutbacks. So if you enter in the North Gate - there is no fee.
Here's what I have for the final shirt orders. When I sorted them out, I ended up with an extra Large Blue shirt. Maybe I ordered an extra t be on the safe side, but look over the list and see if you are missing. Otherwise, I have an extra Large Blue for sale.
Updated shirt orders:

From what I understand this is quite an exclusive group of RL Members. The Extreme Vetting process can takes weeks.
Joking of course.
I am not the organizer but this the info and meeting places are all listed on this thread.
I believe all RL enthusiast are welcome.
My post appears to have gotten lost; I'm stuck in Detroit this weekend >.< For that matter, I'm stuck in Detroit for the rest of the month.
Cuda, I sent you my address in the PayPal note; would you mind shipping my shirt to me?
OK, went through the PayPal payments. Questions:
Adam Martin, who are you? (Screen name)
Williams Raines, who are you? (Screen name)
KC atty, need your mailing address
Sneaky Pete: I have a shirt for you. I assume you are not attending? Please provide mailing address. Not sure if you paid or not.
Will be mailing shirts to:
KoB
Gnochi
KC ATTY
Sneaky Pete
"I've been hit!"
I don't get it. The only photo I saw was the two in the car.
Gnocchi: Go downtown to Greektown, eat gamble and get hammered, then go into Windsor to the full nude strip clubs. They also sell hard alcohol in them. Detroit/Canada, Las Vegas, same-same. Plus, you get the bonus of Cuban cigars in Canada.
Bash Hat: Just do it! It's not too late.
Cuda, thanks for getting the shirts done. I see empty Pliny The Elder bottles next to the banana peel. Nice!
I'm looking forward to this. I'm going to blow out either Thursday night or Friday morning. Tomorrow I'll be working on hopefully figuring out my cab's top issues. If I can't sort it out, I'm driving the coupe. But having the top down with the music up through the desert is my preference. I think this weekend is going to be a blast!
I am planning to depart Phoenix at 3pm Friday, so should be in Vegas four hours later. Sleep, no drinking. And be awake for C&C.
If anyone has a drone they can bring for some aerial shots, would absolutely love it!
Looking forward to meeting everyone and a preemptive "Welcome to Vegas!". I didn't see a big response to meeting prior to Cars n Coffee so I will see everyone there.
I think C&C starts at 7:00am... in the morning 7 a.m.... the bad 7 o'clock... and goes until 10:00a.m., at which point the 996 cruise starts. Is it even light out at 7:00a.m. in Vegas? Nevermind. Anyway, I hereby lay claim to being the morning red-eyed lagger. I'll be there, but 7:00a.m. in Vegas hurts my eyes.
I'm going to do my best to leave SoCal Friday morning (today), and perhaps stop off briefly at Stateline for a quick beverage or two and a few hands of blackjack. I still don't know which hotel I'm staying at, or if it will be on the strip or downtown. Maybe I'll split it up at each just to see how Fremont St is now and come back Monday... or Tuesday? I'd also like to find time to visit Renegade Hybrids if I can at some point, as well. Perhaps I'll get lucky and they'll have an example at C&C to drool on. Anyway, if anyone else might be up for cocktails Friday night, I'm game if you guys are.
So if you guys see a red turbo coupe on the way with what looks like an elderly, long-haired, 230lb saskwach driving it... it's me.
I have a feeling that this is going to be a good time with a fun group.
Gentlemen... start you livers! Let's get the Porsh party started!
While you guys are partying your butts off in Vegas, please think of me spending hours, upon hours playing with 8 year old niece and 15 year old nephew...
At least the Boy said he will wash the Porsche.
we have the front area (under the awnings) reserved for only Porsche.
I am getting there super early and will try to keep the front row all 996, and other cars on back row
I was gonna ask if you guys are drunk yet, but I think I already got my answer.
Pics as it happens, please! The rest of us are living vicariously through you guys this weekend.
There is a fire and the tracks told and US-60 I had to turn around after half an hour of standing. Going back to I-17 to drive the long way it doesn't look like US 60 is workable past Wickenburg right now.
For those who want to arrive at the same time together, why don't we meet at 6:45am at AM/PM 4161 St Rose Pkwy, Henderson, NV 89044? It's just down the street for SpeedVegas. Let me know if you are interested otherwise I will be at Cars n Coffee at 6:45.
This is what I look like
and I drive a green Parsh. You'll know me when you see me
Hey IkoIko, I'm going to try to be there by 6:45. Save me a good spot with the cool cars!
If any of you think I meant the 993's - kick yourself!!
Left later than I had hoped to. Very long drive in terms of time and extra miles due to hellish traffic along the way and Waze alternative routing. Just now found a coin-op and washed the sled. Cross streets are Nellis and Linda in case anybody else is looking.
And just to clarify, it appears that the address of C&C tomorrow is in Henderson.

Welp, finally hunkered down at a Marriott after a long day enjoying pushing the clutch in as much as the fun pedal. But there were some fun roads on the detours between rollovers, garden variety wrecks and fire. I ended up on a detour via Waze that took me to the 40 east towards Needles. Then exited around Ludlow (I think) and cut through the Mojave Desert to Kelso (?) and then meandered back toward the I-15 the loooong way. And I think one of those roads was Kilbaker, for those with google maps that may be curious. The roads were a little rough, but fun twisties thrown in and so many g-outs that I'm surprised I still have fillings in my teeth. I may gotten carried away a bit, as I lost the driver's side pumpkin along the way. My cab with stock suspension would've been bottoming hard through the g-outs at the velocity that I was going, but the jic Magic coilovers on this car never bottomed once or made me white-knuckle and back out of it. But you felt it in your stomach at the bottom and the car went light at the peaks. Yes, it was fun
. Then I eventually made it back to the I-15 for just a few miles before the chokepoint from the fire and experienced what Vitamin-C shared. Stop and go, people pulling over to the shoulder out of fuel, or just using the sparse vegetation as impromptu restrooms. Yeah, not fun. Anyway, here's some sloppy pics. Now I'm sipping a little Jameson's before crashing. More photos to follow tomorrow, but I suspect I'll be arriving at C&C later then most. Wish you all were here!
And Cuda, how can I make Adelelita's jokes when you include your daughter in a Mex trip? Happy Hussongs!
Blasting through Mojave
Deserted in the desert.
The fire chokepoint on I-15
Coin-op car wash in Vegas. Can't show up with bug wallpaper @ C&C. Head on a swivel, crackhead homeless wandering around.
Pumpkinless. A casualty of the desert.
You guys know where this is.

It was worth it, even the fat-guy-changing-a-tire-in-the-dang-desert part...
I still got no turn signals, but otherwise the 5CHN3LLwagen lives to drive another day...
Amazing trip so far.
You have an empty bottle of Vodka and you expect Kalash to show up? Typically that means he has been and gone already.
I'm worried about you. Seems these last few days of isolation have taken their toll...
KC, you're not allowed to tell me to buy stuff anymore! You could've talked me out of the turbro, but noooo, you had to tell me to go for it. Thank you for that, I love the car.
A great day with a great bunch of people today. We had some local PCA members join us on the run into the valley and then for lunch, as well. A very friendly and fun crowd. Brandon (Hawksfan) took the lead position and gave us the tour. Thanks, Brandon!
And as much as 5CHN3LL comes across as almost a curmudgeon on here, I did see him crack a smile today when I caught him looking at a puppy... just before he kicked it. But he did smile, so that counts for something. Tomorrow will be karts and beer! Okay, probably just the karts, but they would be a fun combination.
Thanks man, it was nice meeting you guys as well. Have fun tonight, just not too much!
That dog licked the back of my leg that's why I didn't mind 5CN3LL doing this:
Had a blast on the drive today! Here are some of my favorite snaps. Sorry to interrupt the booze.. I want you boys to keep drinking so I can get hot lap tomorrow.
Cheers!
Pants? Hm. This seems bad.
The good news is they're expecting 70+ mile gusts until 3 AM, so it really wouldn't be safe for any of us to drive back tonight...
Plus this gives me way more time to find my pants.
Great to meet everyone yesterday. Really enjoyed the company, drive, and scenery!
Hwys 266 and 168 were amazing today.
And then after lunch the temperature plummeted and I drove into a snow storm. Seriously.
Bain dramage.
Drinking with the Russian and his co-conspirator until the wee hours of the morning = waking-up drunk this morning.
Just checked in. May as well stay another night and see what the Hoffbrau house is all about. The Trump Hotel is better than Vdara was.
I am back in Phoenix.
Thanks to everyone for showing up and making this happen! Besides few hangovers, some lost pumpkins, and Schnell catching a prophetic Karma from JI...the only real casualty was Kenqv getting rear-ended by 10 year old girl during karting.
Nice meeting everyone yesterday. Sorry I couldn't make it out today. Sounds like you had a good time. I look forward to the next meet,
Vegas locals, we need to get together more often!
Just got back to my room from Hofbrauhaus with Dr_Strangelove, EddieLasVegas and Kenqv.
I just want to let everyone know how much I appreciate how well this weekend went. Every single person that I had the good fortune of meeting at this event were truly fun, interesting and nice people, and I mean the Rennlisters as well as the local PCA folks.
Thanks, Kalashnikov, for doing most of the heavy lifting to get this thing coordinated. Thanks, HawkFan#12, for leading the drive to the Valley of Fire. Cuda, great shirt design! Thanks to anyone else that I failed to mention that also helped along the way. And thanks to everyone else for just being a blast to being around. And in another 363 days we'll hopefully be doing it again, and with more of the rest of you here that couldn't make this year!
Okay, time for some sleep now.
The 928 guys have a couple of get togethers like this each year: Sharks in the Mountains has its 20th anniversary this year. Hopefully this can turn into an annual thing. Maybe get a couple of sponsors onboard even to help with the coordination and the overhead. I could see doing 3 events per year - East Coast, West Coast and Flyover Land. I'm certain that we could host the Flyover land event here at the museum.
Sorry I didn't make it out on Sunday, had more fun than I thought it'd be on the parade laps....
nice meeting you all
i took a track video I am going to try to get posted on here
MTM
Hey Guys, so sorry that I had to miss this event. Just could not get back in time. It looks like it was a blast and I enjoyed seeing the pictures and comments. Hopefully next year. And HawkFan#12 and IkoIko911, since you both live in LV, lets try to meet up for lunch one weekend.
Peter
It was not the kind of pummeling the rest of you sick b******s are imagining. Just stop it.
That was a mighty smack you took...good thing you weren't standing. She was going full clip when she rammed into you, and at least a couple others in our group were also visited by the Helen Keller of karting.
Staying was the correct decision. The 15 was a parking lot. It took me two hours to get to Primm, so I bailed off there and stayed at Buffalo Bills. All of the Primm properties I've seen are dumps, but for $30, it was way better than sitting in traffic being pissed off.
To everyone who made it: thanks for showing up. I had a blast.
To those who didn't: If there's a second annual event - probably in 5 or 6 years - you should consider it.
I can't believe one of you guys didn't "Earnhardt Sr." her out of the track! That's the only way to get a "crash and burn karter's" attention. 12 yo or not they got to learn young that crap don't float! At the daughter's pre-wedding funtime we did Joe's Karting in CB, IA. The future son-in-law's sister thought she was Mario frickin Andretti until the youngest son and I teamed up and showed her the tire barrier. Boy was she pissed! She blamed me as "your a race car driver, why did you do that?". I told her she earned that treatment. She didn't try to again.
As Rennlist's unofficial grammarian, a**hole, and otherwise all-around pain in the ****, it's my duty to warn you that your sentence, as written, suggests that you, Eddie, and Ken were all back in your room.
Now, given how much flammable liquid you consumed over the course of the weekend, that might be what you meant, in which case I hope to God you had an XBox or two in your room...
But you know what they say about stuff that happens in Vegas...
He got rammed in the pits ^^ When the race was done.
I bumped everyone silly. Myself and Ken were battling it out for a looooooong time, while lapping Dallas and the others.
Ah..now I understand the "Helen Keller" reference more clearly. Although it does sound like he wasn't the only one she smacked into. Bumping is usually ok if not too flagrant.
She dropped the decapitation blow at the end of the session, so there was no chance to take her out. She hit the cars in front of her hard enough that the one in front got knocked back out on the track and had to lap again.
Either her Dad or the track attendant (or both) ensured that she was sobbing when she left. Which was good - if someone had been standing between two of the parked cars and they were LUCKY, they might only be in casts today.
Either she was too stupid to catch on (after three massive collisions in the same session) or a lousy little crap who just didn't care; either way, I hope they threw her off the track for the rest of the day.
WOWZA! You are right a lot of times workers step between the karts in the pits to kill the engine much less participants jumping out excited from their experience. That could have been bad. Glad someone dealt with her and no-one got hurt.
Huge thanks to Kalashnikov & Rennlist for putting this event together. Had so much fun and met so many quality people that I decided to become a member and stick around. Sorry!
As for the terror in the pits.. Kenqv was hurting some feelings out on the track. I think she saw an opportunity to strike in the pits and maybe over-did it a bit. She had Max Verstappen's racing line, for sure. I think she pulled 3 or 4 defensive moves before shutting the door on me and taking me out on the last lap.
@ My
Silver State Crew
: DITTO! Enjoyed meeting everyone. Hawk I had a blast ripping through LMRA to Lake Las Vegas with you. Buddha, it was cool meeting you I was sad you didn't go to the park with us. I'm looking forward to our next run! I don't mind helping organize local events so keep me on your mind if you feel like going for a drive. I know Kenqv is up for shenanigans.
To everyone else: RennRun needs to be an annual thing. This little experiment was a great success. If we have double the people next year the "going to jail" joke may not be as funny in 2019.
See you guys on the boards!!
Back home now. Can't believe the temperature swings on this trip, from 100F on Saturday down to 32F this morning! Car handled it all perfectly.
1400 miles total. Probably more than some will cover all year.
Near Tahoe this morning:
Finding my car's doppelganger was worth the trip...everything else was icing. Are you running any shims in your wing? If not, and if you ever feel like the rear end gets a little light at higher speeds, the shims drastically increase how much downforce the wing generates. I have the 8-degree shims, but you can also use the 4-degree shims for some of the benefit without changing the rake too drastically...
Of the two, I'm guessing yours is the good one, and mine is the evil one - but if yours really wants to be the evil twin, we can work out some mutually agreeable arrangement.
My tail pipes are smaller than yours. This is merely an observation and in no way indicative of any deep-seated psychological issues on my part. Seriously.

No, actually, I'll admit here in front of everyone, a nice man who crushes people's dreams informed me at the C&C event that my wing is not the real deal. It's also not adjustable. It's bolted into the place where the normal spoiler lifts. I believe yours is one piece?
Anyway... This is like the beginning of a thriller movie where one statement sets in motion a very expensive hunt.
Heh. Yes, it's always fun when someone helpfully points out a significant flaw.
I guess the good news is that if you ever wanted to go back to stock (like, say, you developed a massive brain tumor that affected your ability to tastefully appoint a vehicle), all you need is the correct insert.
The car looks good to me. The adjustable feature is cool, but damn is it a pretty piece of kit. I know it's not "correct," but the MKII wing sets off the 996 better than the other Porsche and aftermarket wings. The taco wing is awesome, but I like the MKII just a wee bit more. The additional curves on the taco wing make the whole package a little too swoopy for my tastes, but driving a 996 with either wing beats driving a Prius or a Malibu...

You would be at the country-club starring at working girls? I can see that.
F6M had high hopes about you based on your posting and online persona. I explained the country club life....
Apologies for missing the fun. I submit exhibit A for the record, should any of the shady bastiges that attended this event doubt my intentions :P
Cheers from Manila
. Country Club? Whatchu talking about Willis???
My online persona and real life persona are one in the same. You've met me in person so you know that. I just hope you told everyone how handsome I am....
He wouldn't shut up, and the more he drank, the more uncomfortable became the adjectives. It was kinda cute, but definitely in a "one-of-those-grown-men-carrying-a-Japanese-body-pillow-in-public" way.
Is that a bacon-wrapped croissant? I was unaware that Filipinos have perfected the hitherto-unknown art of pork-wrapped pastry. Why was I not made aware of this invention sooner? So much lost time. *sniff*
No bacon unfortunately, just a golden croissant. I got stiffed on breakfast when making the reservation, so fruit heavy room service got the nod. My lady is a Filipino that grew up here, so I'm under pressure to load the suitcase with gifts.
What a good time RR 2017 was! Thanks to Mykita (the peace sign loving guy), Mike (not pictured; left after C&C) et al for organizing this.
Here's the rogue's gallery at lunch in Overton NV after the Valley of Fire run.
Eddie
Thanks for posting that pic Eddie!
Few cliff notes.
I still have about 30 RR 2017 flyers left. If anyone wants them for memento or just to hang around, PM me your addresses and I will send you 5 or however many you want.
I am really happy with how this turned out, and that we were able to get so many different yet like-minded people together.
And again, thanks to everyone for coming and making this happen.

But you know what they say about stuff that happens in Vegas..."

Krap!
That red pen of yours has to go! I was lucky that I could even put a thought together, let alone a sentence. I've been drinking water all day and still don't feel right. Perhaps because the only thing in water is... water. I just got home tonight.
And Dr. Strangelove, you called it on the Trump Hotel. The train horn was clearly audible from within my room on the 35th floor. I chose that place because it's not a casino and thought I'd get some peaceful rest there. Nope, didn't happen. Great room, beautiful interior throughout the hotel, but I can't recommend that anyone stay there. Bummer.
