Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

For the sport suspension model like yours you can use the recommended replacement OE B4 strut but make sure that from where ever you decide to get it from you receive part number 22-113337 (Genuine Porsche Number 996 343 041 38).

I was thinking of just replacing the front and adding H&R springs all around.

Replace leaking RF OE shock with Bilstein B-8's both sides, new bump stops, boots, new OE upper strut bearings (figured at the cheap cost what the heck), new tie rods both sides.
Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

how many miles and what's your objective?
thank you. My objective would be to keep it as close to stock as possible. The car has 80k on it now and I saw some evidence of leakage and brittle rubber in the top areas the other day when he was on a lift, mostly on the drivers side...
Replace with bilstein B4 if you want to stay closest to stock.
The M030 is a nice option to balance between comfort and handling.
My bumpstop disintegrated too. I did not replace mine as I put bilstein B8 (it has internal build in bump stop).
I highly recommend replacing your upper mount with the updated 997 version.
My bearings were also gritty and not smooth when I did mine a couple months ago. Highly recommend checking your bearings too.
Really? I put B8's on mine a few months ago and reused my bump stops. There was no notes on a "integrated" bump stops on mine...I totally agree on the bearings! I took mine apart, cleaned them and repacked with clean grease... Good to go 👍
Replace leaking RF OE shock with Bilstein B-8's both sides, new bump stops, boots, new OE upper strut bearings (figured at the cheap cost what the heck), new tie rods both sides. DIY in garage and not hard to do. Remember to pre-load the suspension prior to tightening the inner lower control arm bolt. It has an index scribe on where it should be.
Looking to do the same thing to mine for now, my front rattles like crazy over bumps and there is definite signs of leaking. I was thinking of just replacing the front and adding H&R springs all around.
just realized that my C2 has the Sport suspension option (not sure what that means though) so are the Bistein B4's still a good choice for me to keep it stock? Thanks, Ralph
I would go for Bilstein B6 or B8 if you want to lower it in the future.
B6 is for stock ride height and B8 is for lowered cars.

You still can get B6 and if you decided to lower your car in the future, you can send it back to bilstein to get it to B8 spec.

Another option (if you can wait) is to contact Bilstein to see if they can get your current struts rebuild. That definitely will get you back to OEM setup and the most economical way.
ok, that's good to know. It looks like B6 will be the choice but I saw on FCP_Euro that the B6 piece is for 911's with standard suspension? Does that exclude me from that choice or should I call them? And it seems they're a lot cheaper... R.
B6 should work fine. I have a boxster with B6 and H&R springs (1" lower) and works fine. It never hits the bump stop (internal or external).
I compare rock auto, ECS tuning, FCP, tirerack, autozone, etc.
Just ran a check for you:
B6 fronts is $229.99 - 20% = $184 from autozone (ship to home promo going on).
B6 rear is $215 from tirerack.
For the sport suspension model like yours you can use the recommended replacement OE B4 strut but make sure that from where ever you decide to get it from you receive part number 22-113337 (Genuine Porsche Number 996 343 041 38). As the standard suspension models will use B4 (22-147448) B6 (22-046123) and B8 (22-046130), and are not the same (Genuine Porsche Number 996 343 041 23). Bilsteins online catalog is not braking down model based on suspension package and is giving a long list of applicable models.
Not to say they will not fit as they may, but I'm getting different OEM Porsche part numbers and would not trust running the standard suspension variants on your vehicle.
Not finding anywhere that is braking down the physical difference, or saying if there is one actually. But every catalog I have (including the dealer catalog) is implying that there is one.
I agree with replacing mounts and hardware like bumpstops while you are at it (B4's are not internally stopped). But after you are done, you should be back to stock shape running these.
