Read evidence and context
Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

Had it installed by a guy who comes to my Indy, cost was $720, not sure what the markup was but I know the shop made something.

I used Meguire's Back to Black on my trim and it looks pretty good.

I don't think I have that same wrinkle but I'll check tomorrow.

Flipped the cable eyelet the other way to see if it changed anything, got things a bit tighter but still visable.
Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

I had a new Sierra brand Metropol Blue top installed in my '01 a few years back.
I don't recall seeing a wrinkle such as is showing at the base of your "C" pillar. The seams in your top look different than my top. Mine were less obvious, minimized, or better hidden in some way.
Also, your fabric seems to look different than mine looked. Perhaps a more coarse weave or something? Might just be what the camera is showing.
You might think about treating the crinkle-finish black trim above the windows. I hit mine with the type of product used to shine up black vinyl/rubber trim, and for a more lasting finish I have heard of people re-painting these areas as well.
Hope that helps....
The top is from german auto tops in Hollywood CA. Same material as original the seams are different from the original in that they are lap instead of butt. This is the 1st convertable top I have ever installed and it was quite a challange, it took 3 weeks in my garage and lots of cursing, lol the fit looks really nice but the c pillar wrinkles are driving me crazy, I'm over this project!
Well, you're more brave than I by being willing to install it yourself.
I found an experienced installer who works from a shop behind his house and who charges less because of minimal overhead, but it was still pricey.
If I recall, the "book" or "shop" install time is something like 13-14 hours.
I knew if I tried it, it would take multiples of that for me to do it.
Nice. Would love to see a step by step. No one has ever documented before.
And my top has that wrinkling on one side - from the factory. So don't worry about it.
If someone could post some detailed pics of their top for comparison it might help me out alot. The old one I removed was in pretty rough shape so I didn't even bother taking pics.
I had my top replaced last year. I don't think I have that same wrinkle but I'll check tomorrow. I don't think I have that seam either.
My top was replaced with the GAAH top. I used Meguire's Back to Black on my trim and it looks pretty good. I haven't tried 303 but I'll look for it.
Bought my new top on eBay from Quality Top and Interiors. Went for the OEM Hartz cloth in Metropol Blue, which was a little more. Cost of top with a "discount" was $426. Had it installed by a guy who comes to my Indy, cost was $720, not sure what the markup was but I know the shop made something. The installer said it was not the best top he had seen, but he had seen a lot worse. No washing for a few days and no lowering it for two weeks. Came out really nice.
I read through the manual and other sources on installing the top myself, do most of the work on my car myself, including a partial rebuild of the engine, but decided this was something better left to an installer.
What I think?
....If you are not a professional top installer, you did a hell of a good job.
Congratulations !!......
I just wished you had documented the whole process to share....
