Not only adjustable valving but also can be adjusted easily for height and corner balance.

I had Pss9s plus m030 sways on my 993 and have m030 complete as factory installed option on my current Boxster S.

I'd say they even performed better than the PS2s that I ran last season.

Suggestion
With the difference only being $400 + change, I'd opt for the pss 10's as well.
Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

It's time to replace the original stock US suspension in my 03 996 C2 Coupe - 80k+ miles is enough. The setup is tired and past it's useful life.
Since the X74 isn't an option anymore, I've settled on either the ROW M030 or PSS10 setup from Gert. I will be doing 4-5 DE track events next year - and also commute in the car 3 times a week when the snow isn't flying. Lots of 993'ers swear by the PSS10s over the M030 - and with the Euro/Dollar exchange rate where it is today, the initial cash outlay isn't much more for the PSS10s. I'll DIY in the install then pay the pros for an alignment.
Anyone with experience comparing the two setups in a 996 on the street and track? If I go PSS10 - I will likely keep my US sway bars as is (don't want to change too many variables at once unless I have to).
Thanks!
I think no matter how you slice it, the PSS10's are going to cost you twice what the ROW M030 will (around $3000.00 vs. $1600.00 US.) In case you haven't checked, the Euro is still worth a little more than a dollar ($1.09 at the moment)...Good luck either way! I think you can rest assured, they'll both be better than stock
Me thinks you need to look at Gert's site for pricing.
Steve go for the PSS10's!!!! For the cost savings you will realize ask Gert for ROW M030 sway bars. That slope is getting slipperier!
Yeah Pete, I'm in full free fall. I blame that 997 of yours.
The nominal price difference has me leaning heavily to the PSS10s. Good call on the sway bar question. I keep looking for some to pop up on the classifieds as well.
Ha I feel your pain! When I ordered the X74 from Gert it came with ROW M030 sways. You could have virtually an X74 with adjustable coilovers. Double dawg dare yuh!
Coilovers are the way to go. I'm very happy with my h&r ones but if I'd have seen that pss10 pricing , I would have jumped on it.
You might check out H&R swaybars , they are better than the mo30 ones and the same price range .
I had Pss9s plus m030 sways on my 993 and have m030 complete as factory installed option on my current Boxster S.
I would opt for the PSS setup if I didn,t already have m030. Not only adjustable valving but also can be adjusted easily for height and corner balance.
I purchased the RoW M030 from Gert a few years ago.
The suspension is great for a daily driver and performs pretty well on the track and autocross. The car stays flat while cornering and feels a lot more solid and planted while driving. Bumps on the road though are a lot more pronounced than the stock suspension.
The main complaint I have about it is that it did very little to the ride height. I was hoping for a modest improvement in the car's stance but didn't get that. At the time I purchased it there was a significant price difference between the PSS10 and the Porsche kit so if I had the choice today I would choose the Bilsteins.
Thanks all for the input.
Quick update. I was able to source a new, full factory X74 kit - including the coilovers, sways, and chassis reinforcements. Pretty pumped - will start the install in the next week or so.
Will update the thread with first impressions once things get settled and I get it aligned.
Quick update for those following along at home.
The X74 install was a success. Smooth sailing, no surprises...simple. Removal of the stock US suspension, including the sway bars, was uneventful. I didn't need spring compressors - everything simply unbolts and drops out of the way.
As others have stated, the X74 is a direct bolt in replacement...no tinkering, struggling, etc... Very easy. Anyone with a spare Saturday and a garage can knock this out without paying the big bucks. These cars are a joy to work on - you get a real appreciation for the engineering and design afforded by a complete redesign of the 911.
I've taken the car out on a few spirited test drives while I wait for the springs to settle and get an alignment. First impressions are fantastic. This is simply the suspension that should have come on every C2 996 from the factory....period. It's not harsh, it's compliant, flat and has the right amount of compromise built in. Even with my 17" wheels and sloppy Conti DWS tires the car feels much more predictable.
Whoever tuned this setup from the factory did a great job and I can't wait until the spring to get it on the track. Bottom line - if you can source the X74 kit do it.
Here's a horrible shot of the car coming in from a dirty "melted snow" test drive. It's no longer SUV height for sure.
X74 installed - ride height is much improved.
Glad to see that you like the setup. I always say the same that this should have come with the car.
I regretted driving on my stock suspension for 6yrs before I switched to x74.
Did you get the x74 from Carnewal?
Hey Gert! I know you don't advertise here but for others, Gert is a joy to do business with. He stands behind his products and he's an absolutely no-BS kinda guy, which I appreciate very much
I got both my x74 and 200-cell sport cats mod from him.
Decided to upgrade 996.1 C2, Cabriolet to a modern, fully adjustable Bilstein PSS10 ($2,899.00) or hlins TTX46 MT MkII or hlins Road & Track, 996 POZ MI00 ($2,820.20)

Any recommendations for anti sway bars
, i.e., Tarett Engineering Adjustable Sway Bars, Techart Sport Anti Sway Bars, 996.205.320.009, Porsche X74, M030, GT3, etc.?
The X74 and M030 use Bilstein B4 Porsche Shock Absorbers, which can not be rebuilt. The higher-end Bilstein B6 through B10 Shock Absorbers are lifetime with a current rebuild cost of $50.
Was finally able to get the new X74 setup out to the track this past weekend.
Let me be clear - the X74 creates a completely different car on the track. It's apples and oranges. The car now effortlessly dives into corners with very little understeer, has predictable throttle on oversteer when cornering tight - throttle steering in general was simple and easy.
The car is flat in the turns - doesn't get disrupted when going off-camber, etc... The engineers and factory drivers who tuned this thing did a great job - by far this is the best bolt in set of factory parts you can add to a C2 if you want to go fast on a track!
Highly, highly recommended.
Quick answer is OEM Carrera Lightweight 18" (MY02) and Sumitomo HTR III Z
Long answer is:
(F) - 8J x 18 H2 - offset: 50 (1.97) - 996 362 136 03, tire size: 225/40ZR18
(R) - 10J x 18 H2 -offset: 65 (2.56) - 996 362 140 03, tire size: 285/30ZR18
The Sumi's did great - was very impressed with how they performed. I'd say they even performed better than the PS2s that I ran last season. Plus at current prices they are 100% disposable so who cares
They are very predictable at the limit - you can feel them give way progressively when you over work them (which as a rookie I do a lot).
This point or review is really moot as you can't get the x74(new at least) any longer but glad to hear some happy stories out of it. The Bilstein/H&R combo should get you 80% of the way there for those wanting something close to the x74 kit.
Edit: Thanks to Fracture who politely pointed out that Gert has 3 left in stock at the last check if anyone wants it before they're truly NLA. However, he said the pricing is $3k. OUCH!
Thanks Fracture for the inventory check.
