Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

I'm about to have some really neat seats and could use all the help I can get to wire them properly.

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

6 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

0 evidence records excluded for query context · 0 excluded by outcome qualification · 0 adjusted by outcome qualification.

0 acknowledgements have no verified action link; they do not establish a repair result.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

I want to compare the Seat wiring diagrams from a 1999 and a 2004 C2. does anybody have access to them? The purpose would be to determine if power seats from a 2004 can be operated by the harness in a 1999 996.

POST 2Original post

Agreed, you should compare the relevant diagrams. The Bentley manual and Alldata (alldatadiy.com) have the wiring diagrams that you need. Not a direct answer for your specific situation, but a data point: I put power seats from a newer 996 into an originally manual 2000 996 and they work great. They were 8 way memory seats, so I had to build a simple jumper to bypass the missing buttons function and just let them work via the side switches. I found a YouTube video that showed how, and have posted replies here about it. If you can crimp connectors, you can easily build the jumpers.

POST 3 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

that's great news, so thanks. I'll move towards getting the seats, then.

If you could resurrect that video or anything else, it would be a great help. I'm about to have some really neat seats and could use all the help I can get to wire them properly. My helper guy is cool, but he's best when following a plan, lol

I'm not as smart as you are, so appreciate the tips. The seats seller also suggested that if worse comes to worse, I could just switch the new leather for the old, but I'd rather do it the correct way.
