Since I have to take the entire frame off to replace the mounting bracket that is broken where that hinge attaches, maybe I should just buy a used top (good shape) that is already on it's frame and in good condition.

Well, I was replacing the rebuilt hydraulics for the top and realized that the hinge mounting point in the rear driver's side was snapped.

Well, I was replacing the rebuilt hydraulics for the top and realized that the hinge mounting point in the rear driver's side was snapped. I was about to start shopping for a new top and had this question that I hope I could get some input on. Since I have to take the entire frame off to replace the mounting bracket that is broken where that hinge attaches, maybe I should just buy a used top (good shape) that is already on it's frame and in good condition. That way, since I have to take the whole frame out anyway, I would figure that the labor would be less if I just had to replace the mounting bracket and then put the whole new top and frame that is together already onto the car. What do you guys think?

Check with a few shops. My guess is that the cost of labor for installing a used top will be similar to installing a new top, but then you won't have a new top.
