Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

8 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Trying to remove my tiptronic tranny to replace the IMS but cant find how to pin the torque converter. Any help here guys? I bet this is the link youre thinking of: https://rennlist.com/forums/boxster-and-boxster-s-986-forum/525213-tiptronic-removal-and-replace-repair.html

POST 2Original post

. It's been awhile but I'll look for the link. Crank pinned? I recall (reading) going through the starter hole to get to the flex plate and rotating to remove two at a time. Not the link I was looking for but helpful I hope http://forums.pelicanparts.com/porsc...r-install.html

POST 3 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Yeah I actually already got the 6 TC bolts out via the starter access hole and turning crank pulley. Now ready to unbolt tranny bellhousing from engine but need to pin TC. I assume theres an access hole but I cant seem to find it.

POST 4Original post

Did you drop the motor an trans already or trying to just drop the tranny? Do you have the Bentley Manual. I'm not near mine.

Just trying to drop tranny and I was actually about to order the Bentley manual tomorrow. Seems like a must for this type of work.

I was reading up on the TIP removal a year ago. There are certain steps you must take first or you're going to back yourself in a corner if I recall. I'll be near my book in an hour if no one jumps in to help first. Everyone recommends dropping the trans and motor as a unit first because getting the trans back in is a royal pain.

POST 7Original post

The TC bore hole to pin the converter is on top. Do you have the 9595 tool? Looks like it's near the #1 bolt. Make sure you don't lose track of the bell housing bolts as they are of different sizes.

POST 8Original post

Did mine last year, the hole is indeed on the top behind the starter motor. Don't forget to lock the crank as well. I didn't use any special tools, long 8mm bolts were perfect
