Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

Suggestion

I adjust my tire pressures often enough that I don't need to check the sensors - but you do need to tighten them down a bit to ensure they don't leak, so I can imagine that you could tear up rubber valve stems easily, especially if they've got some time on them.

I am now running the Nonda TPMS, which stuffs all of the TPMS hardware and battery into what are basically oversized valve stem caps.

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Has anyone installed OE TPMS sensors with an aftermarket display?

POST 2Original post

Yes. I used the Orange TPMS system that was available on Amazon. I liked the in-car display - it automatically cycled between PSI and tire temp and displayed the data for all 4 wheels simultaneously. Unfortunately, I never had luck pairing the receiver with new sensors, so I gave up after two sets. I am now running the Nonda TPMS, which stuffs all of the TPMS hardware and battery into what are basically oversized valve stem caps. There is no in-car display - the receiver unit for the sensor pairs with the Nonda app, and the tire pressure and temp data is displayed on your phone. (The receiver has status LEDs and will beep if the tire inflation is out of range, but you need the app to make the system usable). It IS kind of cool that I can just move the receiver and the 4 caps to another vehicle; you can't do that with in-wheel TPMS sensors. Amazon Amazon

How long have you had it and did you rebalance your tires after installing?

POST 4 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

They look cool: Amazon Amazon I actually see that many complain about the sensors ruining the stems. They even say in the description to check it every 2 months. Not inspiring....

POST 5Original post

I've been using it for about a year - and no, the caps weigh so little that no balancing was necessary. I adjust my tire pressures often enough that I don't need to check the sensors - but you do need to tighten them down a bit to ensure they don't leak, so I can imagine that you could tear up rubber valve stems easily, especially if they've got some time on them.
