Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

I really don't have a lot of experience with brake pads/compounds, but the oranges were recommended by my friend Maurizio at MC Racing (Stow MA).

They are an older Pagid pad, and not cheap, but I am happy I found a new set on Ebay.

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

For those interested in getting larger brakes, here is an option:
Before:
Another huge thank you for TheDeckMan and my friend Rick for another 996 project in the books.
996.2 GT3 Spindles
996.2 PCCB 6 Piston Calipers
996.2 Turbo Rear Calipers
350MM 996 GT3 front rotors
350MM 997 GT3 rear rotors
997 GT3 master cylinder
Pagid RS4-4 Orange Front/Rear
I included a picture of some of the other parts required for the job. Some other things were also needed, like longer caliper bolts/spacers for the rear calipers.
Markus from Werk996 painted the rear calipers for me to match the fronts. He did an incredible job.
New clutch on the Noah's GT3 also.
Still missing a few parts, but mostly all done. I will take better pictures when able outside. The rear rotors are the biggest visual difference as they are massive compared to the OEM size (318MM Front/299MM Rear). The 6 pistons also look incredible.
The brakes feel amazing. Pretty big difference, as expected. SO MUCH POWER. I tried to lock them up a few times and damn, so much power. I really can't get over how much more powerful they are. I will need to completely re-configure my brain for the next time I am at Lime Rock.
Some more crappy cell phone pictures. The brakes look incredible, but they are hard to capture on a phone. I will use the good camera when I get a chance.
Those are the same pads I had before with the OEM disks/calipers. I had them just in the front before. Incredible pads. A lot of bite, limited noise (once bed properly) and good feel. They were a nice difference over stock. I really don't have a lot of experience with brake pads/compounds, but the oranges were recommended by my friend Maurizio at MC Racing (Stow MA). He owns a Porsche Engine/Race shop and races his built 996 at Lime Rock and Thompson. That is the pad he told me to use, and I have been happy with them. They are an older Pagid pad, and not cheap, but I am happy I found a new set on Ebay.
Sorry, Im not sure. The most important part is the front GT3 spindles. That allows for all the available parts in front. Noah did all the research, which was quite a bit, before we ordered anything.
The upgrade also works with the 997 front gt3 spindles and the matching calipers. The 996 calipers r a little odd and assemetric. The 997 stuff is more available new and used. U can also go to a 380 front rotor with the correct rim.
U will deffinately find the abs at lrp if u r on less then a slick..... if u threshold break correctly.
Sorry, it depends on a lot of things. (like used vs new replacement cost)
Maybe: $5-7K on calipers. Again, maybe you find a good set used. I refinished and rebuilt mine.

or these, but youd need a set of rear calipers. (Set of 996 turbo rear refinished maybe 1200)

My buddy got me the front 6 pistons for approx a grand, so huge deal. But I needed the rears, mentioned above.
Pads: $1,000
Rotors: $1,200 for oem replacements.(996GT3 F, 997GT3 R)
All those various bits: $2-3k
Spindles (if you can find them). These were new old stock. Maybe $4K ish? I have no idea. I can't even find a set for sale. I already had the set.
Gt3 master: $400 ish
Then labor. About 10 hours, so whatever that is worth.
$15/20k ish maybe from zero (if you can source the parts/get the spindles). Maybe look for the 997 GT3 spindles mentioned above. I think it cost me about $11k ish. But, I usually avoid adding up receipts . . .
I build an cheaper option with some rare Audi Calipers, 350mm Discs and the oem Spindles from my 996 C2
But i didnt build it to the end, because my wheels doesnt fit on those anymore.
Could you measure the inner barrel diameter on your wheels, edge to edge across the inner opening? With a 350mm rotor and the 6-piston caliper the package is roughly known, but the barrel number is the missing reference so I can extrapolate. I'm sizing a setup on 20s (rear, custom build) and want a finger of clearance, no more, so I'd rather scale from a real measurement than guess.
20s are too big. 19s are even pushing it. I had them before, but on coilovers, they would never work on the current setup.

Porsche 996 GT3 Wheels
Fair for a stock car. In my case the arches are cut and reshaped, so the wheel well sits way higher than stock. 20s in the rear, 18 or 19 up front depending on the build.
I got the car aligned yesterday following all the work. Rear tire wear is very good, so didn't adjust much in the rear. Just dialed the front in to where it had been. The car drives incredibly well. The brakes are also amazing. They are so much more powerful than before. A massive difference.
I couldn't pass up this picture opportunity on this road after the alignment.
