Read evidence and context
Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

Suggestion
Thought it might disconnect after a week when it goes to sleep via some relay but nope, all is good.

Suggestion
Works great and is easy to disconnect when the weather plays ball and it's nice enough to run the car a bit during the winter.

Super simple to just pull the clip off if I want to run over the winter.

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

First winter storage with my '99 Cab. Am I OK hooking the trickle charger to the terminal in the engine compartment? It's more convenient for me than under the front hood at the battery.
Thanks,
Tom
I bought an adapter for my trickle charger and plug it into the cigarette lighter. On these cars, the cig lighter is not turned off with the engine. Works great and is easy to disconnect when the weather plays ball and it's nice enough to run the car a bit during the winter.
I already have two chargers that are both "clip on" type. Didn't really want a 3rd! lol. I can't imagine there's a negative (no pun...) to connecting at the terminal in the rear of the car.
I also use a "Battery Tender". I hooked the quick connect plug to the battery (so it stays there all the time). When I put the car up for service in the winter, I just plug the car into the battery tender - the wire runs right up the gutter next to the frunk storage area. You can even latch the hood without interference. I'm sure the brand of your trickle charger doesn't matter so much - they probably all have some sort of "quick-connect" type of hook up.
The hook up is fine. I'm just wondering if it will charge the battery if it's hooked up to the battery terminal in the rear of the car in the engine bay. Super simple to just pull the clip off if I want to run over the winter.
