I am eventually going to go with different wheels, probably 19", but for now, the steel belts are getting close so I have to replace the rears.!

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

6 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

On a 2002 with OEM 18" five spoke in rear. Have 285/35/18 in the back. Car is lowered with H&R springs. So is 295/35/18 ok or can I even go to 315?

POST 2Original post

295 yes....315 no if you have the 10" rim. Besides, the weight of that larger rubber will hurt you. What are you going to run in the front with the increased track in the rear? You can go with the GT3 sizes of 235 in front and 295 in rear. Then again why would you want to change from the 225/285 setup. FYI.....wider is not better.

POST 3 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

LVDell, the rears have worn out, fronts are fine. Just want wider in the back. I am eventually going to go with different wheels, probably 19", but for now, the steel belts are getting close so I have to replace the rears.!

POST 4Original post

Check the manufacturer's recommended width ranges for the tire(s) you're interested in. I noted that you listed 295/35 which is significantly taller/diameter/load rating than the 295/30.

POST 5Original post

As Arena said, you need 30 series not 35 for the rears. Do you have 285/35 right now? You should have 30.

POST 6 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Right, I have 285/30 not 35. So I gues best bet would be to go to tirerack or the like and price a pair of Conti 295/30/18's for the rears to match the fronts.
