Suggestion

In my experience, you need to lift up the trim, set the new plastic bracket in place in the groove, set the "trap door" in the bracket, and then set the trim down on top of it

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

10 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

0 evidence records excluded for query context · 0 excluded by outcome qualification · 0 adjusted by outcome qualification.

0 acknowledgements have no verified action link; they do not establish a repair result.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Howdy, I have searched RL and Pelican and have not found anything exactly related to my small issue. It is a small cosmetic issue that is bugging me. All 4 of the roof molding caps are sagging down or not installed properly. Do I need to replace these parts? If so, can I get some help with the P/Ns? If it is an easy fix, please let me know. Thanks! C2 Coupe Roof Molding Caps/Covers

POST 2Original post

I honestly don't know if you need the flap and the brackets, but the part numbers are here http://www.autoatlanta.com/porsche-p...section=810-00

POST 3 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

DBJ, thank you so much, appreciate the part numbers. I will order these soon. Hopefully someone else can chime in on how to fish these out and possible repair them.

POST 4Original post

I used a really small flathead screwdriver. Then I turned my car into a track car and quit caring. But that's beside the point.

POST 5 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Thank you, were you able to clip it back into the bracket at that point? Or just leave it out for weight reduction ?

POST 6Original post

Got it clipped back... lol

POST 7Original post

I replaced these in my 996 C2. The plastic snap clips on the molding may break when you remove them (5 on each molding). I bought a few spares at Pelican, each piece was roughly $5.00 each. In the FSM there is a blow up pic of the whole assembly

POST 8 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Thank you! Did you have to remove the long roof molding part, or could it be left it in place?

POST 9Original post

Because the metal "trap door" on top has a pin sticking out of each end, I don't see how you can install it without lifting up the trim. The problem on mine is that the white plastic bracket that the "trap door" sits in got brittle and broke. In my experience, you need to lift up the trim, set the new plastic bracket in place in the groove, set the "trap door" in the bracket, and then set the trim down on top of it
