Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

At the risk of sounding alarmist - I wouldn't use anything except OEM-grade lug bolts.

Suggestion
Factory manual states to specifically use a floating collar lug bolt, I wouldnt use a non floating collar - just my opinion.

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

Hey Everybody -
My wheel lugs are a rusted mess. I bought these online at Set Group USA:
https://setgroupusa.com/products/20-...lug-nuts-bolts
Specifications:-Lug Height: 2.21" inches tall / - SHANK LENGTH - 1.16" / Thread Size: 14X1.5
My concerns are that they are a one piece lug bolt while my original one is two piece. Also the ball seating on the original one has more vertical height than the new one.
I was able to put the new bolt on the wheel with no issues, but are these safe to drive with. Please see attached pic.

If the they designed it that way they did so for a reason.
I tried that a couple of years back but after removing wheels once or twice and re-torquing between times, paint flaked badly. Oh, and don't even go near them with a rattle gun!
At the risk of sounding alarmist - I wouldn't use anything except OEM-grade lug bolts. I'm sure my experience was a fluke, but having three out of five studs on one wheel snap off while I was driving on the highway was pretty freaking terrifying.
JTT makes a really good point, I always ask my shop to use the lug socket I provide and I put quite a few coats of clear on the lugs to help prevent premature flaking even though I'm very careful when I torque... R.
Wheel lug nut safety let me tell you....
In the big city after an event we head to Chinatown for a bite and some veggies for home.
We come across a familiar "sidewalk lady" selling trinkets and such.
I give her a couple of bucks and she lays these coins on me with a huge toothless smile.
In the left lane of a double lane separated freeway, cruise set to 125km's we're closing on a tundra on our right.
Five car lengths back the tundra almost jerks and I catch a shiny glimpse then the rear drivers side wheel flies off.
Brake hard the wheel's in a bouncing wobble heading in front of us till it goes to a full spin.
It heads over the grass meridian bouncing into the opposite lane's swerving traffic and into the forest.
Discovered this a couple of days later.
Can't say I know anything of metallurgy or such but the issue has been discussed on other forums
that studs/lugs can be stretched and weakened by careless fastening and time.
How many times have we gotten our vehicles back after repair and needed a breaker bar and
extension cause some garage monkey went airgun crazy refastening.
Perhaps they should be considered a wear item for safety reasons?
The "R" needed new wheels after ten winters so it got some new lugs too.
The C4S some nice ti's from World-Motorsports.
Hats off to those who restore them.
I dispose of them.
The coins stay in the car as our lucky charms.
Anyone know what they are or say?
You were very lucky indeed WOW but those coins are just some old coins from the "Tong-Chi" Dynasty time, I think. They are not lucky charm, just real old time coins, so you could just keep them in your car for luck since they already saved you once. Cheers,
