I'm a newbie to this - having low oil pressure in 2000 Porsche C4 and would like to replace the oil pressure relief parts (spring and piston)- have them on order from pelican but...planning ahead, I looked under car from rear and think I found the plug on the left (drivers) side almost even with Rear wheel.

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

9 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

Brass plug - my manual says it should be a M18 but it looks much larger than that (M28?). So I'm not sure I have the correct location. Can someone send me a picture of the location for this plug? Thanks gmorris552

POST 2Original post

The plug you're looking at is a timing chain tensioner, not the oil pressure relief. The plug you want is circled in red below:

POST 5Original post

Yeah I just googled a picture and drew a circle. No elbow grease necessary My car has a nice layer of dust on everything underneath.

Actually - unrelated question and sorry OP for thread jacking, right above the cat crossover there is a bolt holding the heat shield on is there a washer on it? Bought the bolt + washer as per the PET but the bold wasn't long enough to stay in place?? (20 + 21 below) bolt is an M5 x 12 which seems too short?

POST 7 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Thanks kdraige! Perfect picture and I found it on the car. gmorris552

Asahi how you keep it so clean, I rebuilt mine about 5k ago and it's dirty as hell again you wouldn't know it was clean as a whistle when it went back in!

That pic was taken right after some light cleaning Now it's a bit more dirty but not too bad. I'm in SoCal so that helps I had also removed the cosmoline.
