Remove center console, unclip the linkage cables, install/use the adjustment tool (a plastic bracket that clips to the metal shifter and fits over the shifting housing.

Can you deine "a little trickey"? I have a slight opposite problem, several times in the last month I've gotten into reverse gear when I meant to get into 1st gear, I find that the harder I tried to avoid getting into first gear, I end up getting into first gear........, no issues at all the less I think about it and just drive normally. Fortunately I've never pop the clutch and gunned it accidently in reverse, I'm quite concious about this so tend to go easy until I'm sure I am actually in first gear!

Hi. You should not have to pull any tricks to get it into reverse. My shifter feels very solid ('01 MY), and I have to give the gear-**** two very distinct shifts to the left to get it under the "R" gear position.

Try shifting into second then shift into reverse. Might be easier.

+1. Remove center console, unclip the linkage cables, install/use the adjustment tool (a plastic bracket that clips to the metal shifter and fits over the shifting housing. Then reconnect the linkage cables. This tool goes for less than $5.00. This tool will not fit the Porsche OEM short shift or B&M; they may have updated it since I last checked. If not, just eye ball it when you reconnect the linkage. Test the gears before you put the console back.
