About two years ago, after my OEM cats started to rattle (I was convinced it was a bad IMS - big thanks to the guys from Little Speed Shop who were at WGI that day for the proper diagnosis), i bought and installed the Fabspeed cats.

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. POST 3Original post

I have had great success with the maxspeed motorsports 200 cel cats: http://www.maxspeed-motorsports.com/...st_Parts_.html When my factory cats gave up, I researched and at that time, Fabspeed would not warranty their cats if you DE with your car. Maxspeed's warranty is not affected by DE track use.

POST 5Original post

Fabspeed cats are awesome so far. I just put them on my car about a week ago, one of the OEM's started rattling a few months back. They have a nice idle, just a low rumble. At 3k RMP they wake up and give an amazing tone and the car pulls harder and smoother all the way to redline. The sound is louder and freakin intoxicating, I can't stay off the throttle! No CEL by the way... Car has taken to them just fine. Used the original O2 sensors

POST 6Original post

^^^ Don't celebrate too much yet. Each time the CEL comes on, I clear it. But, it always comes back. Sometimes takes a week, sometimes a month, but it always eventually comes back. Do you also have Fabspeed mufflers? I can't see just the cats making that big a difference in sound.

POST 7Original post

I do not have the cats, but had Fabspeed exhaust on my 951 it never fit right. I have muffler bypass pipes from them on my 996 and they're as good as a piece of metal can get, I suppose. On my CTT I had the cat's and had no issues. With all that said, I'm not 100% convinced with their products just due to the horrible fitment with the 951 its always left a bad taste. Also the 996 tips, look ehh at best after 2 years being installed. Will I get more items from them, or buy a car with their stuff, I'm sure I will, but for cats, with Cuda saying there is a CEL I'd look elsewhere if I were you.

POST 8Original post

I have the fabspeed cats with tubi mufflers and headers and fabspeed tips The cats threw plenty of codes, I changed the o2 sensors and codes decreased significantly Occasionally I get the p0420 code but I just clear it Agree on tip fitment Not the greatest for the $ Cats fit great, add to the sound and power but the star of the show is the tubi mufflers Great thing about being a consumer You get to choose who you give your money to

POST 9Original post

I have the x-pipe cats. I already had the PSE exhaust installed but it really did change the sound of my car significantly. The cats fit great and I've been happy with their performance. But I have had several CEL errors as well. Mostly it happens if I'm puttering around town in a gear higher than I should be. It's not a big deal for me though as I just whip out the code reader and clear it. But if you can't stand for that to happen then it's something to consider. I think they sell spacers now for the O2 sensor to keep this from happening but aside from being a slight inconvenience it really doesn't bother me. I'd rather have that than a clogged OEM cat that costs twice as much to replace.

POST 10Original post

Do any of you who are getting CELs have spacers installed?

POST 11Original post

I would expect cel lights from 100 cell cats but I've been curious why quite a few Fabspeed car owners are getting this with the 200 cell cats considering they use a premium cat element IIRC. I found it a bit strange that they first suggested o2 spacers as a bandaid fix rather than requesting the unit back for inspection in Cuda's case(and quite possibly others).

POST 14Original post

I don't have Cats anymore, but I went with SpeedTech's X-pipe. Fabspeed charges WAY too much for a chunk of steel with some welds on it. http://www.speedtechexhausts.com/

Do you get CELs with this?

POST 16Original post

Quotes source post: 13284097

No, I ordered some mini-cats (a cat on the O2 sensor between the exhaust and the actual sensor). They keep the car happy. Here's a link to Fabspeeds (I paid less than half by not getting them from Fabspeed): http://www.fabspeed.com/universal-o2...ic-converters/

POST 18Original post

I'll chime in here. I've had Fabspeed mufflers on the car since I bought it, about 50k miles ago. I really really like the way they sound. About two years ago, after my OEM cats started to rattle (I was convinced it was a bad IMS - big thanks to the guys from Little Speed Shop who were at WGI that day for the proper diagnosis), i bought and installed the Fabspeed cats. First impressions were that there was minimal impact on the sound. This may be different on stock mufflers, but I struggled to hear anything. No problem though, as I didn't buy them for sound, but because they were cheaper than the OEMs. Second thing I noticed is that there seems to be a reduction in torque at the very bottom of the rev range. For example, I have to be a bit more judicious when pulling away from stop sign to make sure I don't stall. Finally, about nine months ago, I started getting CELs. Kept clearing them, but as noted by others here, they kept coming back. The CELs started right after I had the car emissions inspected, so I'm pretty sure the cats aren't bad. Not sure what the issue is, but I'm not going to worry about it for now. Kind of a bummer though.

POST 19Original post

On my C4S I've got a tinny rattle in my left CAT, not that bad, but annoying. Just started last week. So even with highflow 200 style CATs people are throwing codes. Those FabSpeed spacer cat pipes look interesting, where was the 1/2 price source? If you run a CAT bypass X-pipe then, with no CATS at all, are you 10x more likely cursed by CEL's? All these with-cat exhaust systems are crazy priced at $2000 average. I may just get a used CAT and install it myself. If I went with X-pipe bypass, stock mufflers, how would the sound be? I want to keep it wife friendly, same loudness but deeper tone would be perfect. I don't need to emissions test my car.

POST 20Original post

Way to rub it in man. HAHA

POST 21Original post

Quotes source post: 13292753

That's why I went catless - the cats add $1000 which is ridiculous. I have OEM sports mufflers, and at low throttle / idle I'd say it's about 20% louder. Above 5k rpm at WOT in a tunnel....your ears may bleed

POST 22Original post

I have fabspeed xpipe. Rarely but it does happen. I get a check engine light and have to reset it. It usually does it while I am cruising in a higher gear and engine is running at low rpm, usually have the wife out for a drive. It never comes on at the track or when driving aggressively.

POST 23Original post

So maybe a good combo would be the X-pipe cat delete, and then those cute little CAT's just at the After Sensor. Where was that 1/2 price place you mentioned, instead of the $125 fabspeed?

POST 24Original post

This is the only other one's I'm aware of. http://www.speedtechexhausts.com/ast...ions_1_032.htm

POST 25Original post

Thanks to those of you who recommended Maxspeed over Fabspeed. At close to $1000 in price difference, I'll be going with the Maxspeed 200-cell cat xpipe as I am in a similar dilemma to the OP. To those running cat bypass, how the hell do you deal with the smell?! That would drive me crazy...

POST 31Original post

Mentioned earlier in the post that I had the fabspeed cats for about a couple weeks. Went on a trip this weekend, about 220 miles each way with some driving around while there and on the way back and sure enough the CEL came on. Was a little paranoid on the way back home but figured it was emissions related and luckily it was. Went to my mechanic and had him clear the code, it stated that the 02 sensor was ageing. A non issue, if it was related to the new cats I am not 100% but we will see if it happens again. I do like the sound these cats give, a lot. My mufflers are OEM sport and with this system gives a great tone.

This is a source reference. Confirm exact model applicability in the original material.
