Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

4 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

0 evidence records excluded for query context · 0 excluded by outcome qualification · 0 adjusted by outcome qualification.

0 acknowledgements have no verified action link; they do not establish a repair result.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

I could not find this answer on any of these boards. When one replaces the IMS, is there anything "special" about it. I thought I had read that you have to tie down the cams when the old IMS is removed. Sorry if I'm asking a question that has already been answered.

POST 2Original post

Yes, it's quite "special". It would be wise to follow these instructions developed by Jake and Charles. Also try to understand each step and why it's done. That way the info will stick better and it's less likely to screw up. lnengineering.com/files/IMSR-Instruction-Warranty.pdf

POST 3Original post

In short - yes, locking down the cams is necessary, as opposed to "tying down the cams" like with rope in a bonda..wait, wait...locking the cams in the correct position is necessary when doing an IMS replacement. Thank you Ahsai! Whew!

The RND roller bearing installation instructions are also useful and have good pictures FYI. The actual bearing swap may be the easiest part of the job. Getting ready to do it properly is where the time and proficiency is required. http://rndengines.com/roller-bearing-ims-retrofit-kit/
