Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

Add that to the fact that I have no intention of using the OEM part (going for Meyle or TRW.

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

You could go to the website of a vendor such as Pelican Parts and search for the parts for both the 997 and 996. If the Porsche part numbers are the same, then the parts are the same. Or, use the Porsche PET if you have access.
Thanks for the reply gelber.
Unfortunately Doing that will not answer my question.
I will explain.
Coming from the Boxster world, I know that the 986 and the 987 have two different part numbers, but you can still fit the newer part to the older car. Just trying to confirm it's the same with the 996 and 997.
Add that to the fact that I have no intention of using the OEM part (going for Meyle or TRW. Both OE manufacturers), part numbers from the PET are not going to help.
You might want to give Vertex a call down in Coral Gables (I see you are in Coral Springs). Not sure why you are changing it (warn bushings, ball joints?). They are a very good indy shop but they also have their own line of remanufactured control arms and parts and accessories. When I did my 996 front suspension refresh I ended up getting all the parts there after researching options. They also have OEM and aftermarket parts I believe. I did that 3 years ago and have been very pleased. They will probably answer your question for free but can also sell you the parts.
I think I gave them my originals for a core charge for a discounted price.

I have read that the 997 are too wide, can't remember where I saw it might have been a boxster forum.
I just purchased a pair of these, need to replace my right front and left rear.
If you complete this a write up would be good if possible. I opted for genuine 996, incidentally the part number has been superseded but the old part number is still stamped on all the parts.
Front and rear as well as left and right are all the same.
Depends if it's a 997.1 or 997.2. The 997.1 I'm pretty sure will fit. I'm not a 100% on the 997.2. The difference is the thrust bushing height size on the coffin arm that the arm you asking about fits too. I bought some new 981 lower control arms for my 986. I just had to swap the thrust bushings in the middle out for the lower profiled ones.
thank you guys for the input.
i will perform the job myself, and prefer to use the rubberized ball joint over the Polyurethane ones offered by EPS/Vertex.
i will probably go with the 996 Meyle or TRW part.
thanks again.
