They are a polyurethane filled OEM style mount that appear well made, but I havent used them yet so I cant give direct feedback on them.

Last summer I installed these Rohler semi solid engine mounts on a place of bad originals to my 2001 996 with manual and M030 suspension.

When my engine was rebuilt we replaced the motor mounts and Im pretty sure we went with the 997 mounts.

OEM is recommended because solid or semi-solid engine mounts wreak havoc with the engine knock sensors.

While owning the car for a little over a year, nearly 90% of its life with me has been on a QJ or something doing restore & repair tasks.

I will say I have been running the semisolid/polyurethane type mounts for the past ten years and 130K miles with no problems or what I would personally call ill effects.
Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

I was hoping someone could give some suggestions about engine mounts. I tried purchasing a pair of Rein through Pelican Parts but got a message stating they were out of stock. Additionally, PP automatically sent a set of Aftermarket Bapmics which I quickly rejected. Now I am looking into a brand called Function First. Has anyone had experience with their modified mounts? TIA
Wow, this is awful. Not sure what's going on. You can get the Porsche branded product here:
Porsche Engine Mount Kit - Genuine Porsche 996ENGMTKT | FCP Euro
But it's $1000!
I have a set of the function first engine mounts on the shelf for someday. They are a polyurethane filled OEM style mount that appear well made, but I havent used them yet so I cant give direct feedback on them. I will say I have been running the semisolid/polyurethane type mounts for the past ten years and 130K miles with no problems or what I would personally call ill effects.
The other Function First products (mostly shifter related) are well regarded, and I think they are a forum sponsor as well.
There is a huge motor mount thread around here somewhere.
When my engine was rebuilt we replaced the motor mounts and Im pretty sure we went with the 997 mounts.
Slakker did the rebuild and honestly not sure exactly why they went with the 997 mounts but I trust them.
Maybe someone on here could explain if theres really a difference. Also, maybe a 997 mount opens up your options and makes it easier to find.
Hope that helps.
OEM is recommended because solid or semi-solid engine mounts wreak havoc with the engine knock sensors. Why not try AutoAtlanta -

They can be but don't have to be.
I've had them for several years now with zero issues on stock and now built motor. Slakker didn't have a problem with them being there. They are a perfect balance / middle ground between stock and some stiffer aftermarket stuff. Proceed as you wish but some OEM pricing is definitely LOL/WUT?/WTF/GTFO these days. I guess Porsche is trying to close the gap on crappy sales numbers with $800 plastic front lips and $1000 engine mounts
Last summer I installed these Rohler semi solid engine mounts on a place of bad originals to my 2001 996 with manual and M030 suspension. So far I have been very happy with these. Car is 50% street and 50% track use with also polyurethan transmision bushing insert. Still no vibrations to mention of:

I got a set of Uro mounts and loaded them with polyurethane (3M window weld equivalent) as a budget firmer mount. My thinking was the Uro mounts should be plenty durable with that much reinforcement, and if they were too stiff it would still be a cheap experiment.
Havent put them in yet.
I added the 3M window weld stuff and had these new mounts in with new engine. I do not remember the brand of mount, but it wasn't URO. I don't have the car back yet so I can't say what it "feels" like.
While owning the car for a little over a year, nearly 90% of its life with me has been on a QJ or something doing restore & repair tasks. Heck, I haven't had the car for 4 months so I almost forget what it is like anyway. I may get it back next week so I'll letchano.
YMMV
When I was looking for my mounts I contacted German Auto Parts and asked about their listing. If I remember correctly, he was able to determine from the part number that it was a Rein produced mount but sold under a different name brand. I however ended up finding a Rein mount elsewhere but that site now says its on back order again.
