My next thought is to replace the battery, it is about 3 years old and has had a lot of miles put on it (probably around 30-40k, I have had the car a little over a year and the previous owner drove and traveled with it a lot).

Hello all, I have tried to do a search for this issue and haven't found anything on Rennlist or any other site. Recently I have been experiencing some electrical issues (one time I unlocked the car and opened the door, dash lit up with a bunch of warning lights and my wing went up about halfway!). I went ahead and replaced the ignition switch and the really weird issues went away, car ran fine for a couple of days. Now I have had the same problem occur twice. I will unlock the car, get in and turn the key to position 2 so the oil can get measured and the fuel pump primed etc, then as soon as I click it over into position 3 the whole car goes dead. No electrics, it doesn't crank, nothing. If I let it sit for a bit, and then try to open and close the door, that *seems* to fix it but I am not sure if that is just placebo or not and time is what lets it get fixed. My next thought is to replace the battery, it is about 3 years old and has had a lot of miles put on it (probably around 30-40k, I have had the car a little over a year and the previous owner drove and traveled with it a lot). When the car runs, it runs great and the battery 'gauge' is around 14 like it always has been. If the battery doesn't work, has anyone else experienced this?

Make sure battery is good. Which ignition switch did you put in? The cheaper NAPA type or one that is more in the $30+ range?
