Heck, we love Meguiars Carnuba wash so much, we bath our dogs in it, wash our dishes, clean the floors with it, shampoo our hair with it, use it to clean the windows, stove, refrigerator, our toilets...

I've used the P21S Bodywork Shampoo on my Guards Red 996 (as well as numerous other cars) for the longest time and loved the results.

The birds either love the car or hate it, I'm not really sure which, but it gets hit often and the ONR spray is perfect for spot cleaning so that bird droppings don't etch into the paint.

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

I enjoy washing my car, but have limited detail expertise... that being said, my paint is in fairy decent shape. I used the Meguiars carnuba car wash, and was really happy with the depth of gloss in the finish. I know it's not a wax at all, but this is my new favorite!
+1 on the Meguiars Carnuba car wash. I use it every wash and detail on both cars. Really love the look and smell in the garage afterwards. Excellent product.
Heck, we love Meguiars Carnuba wash so much, we bath our dogs in it, wash our dishes, clean the floors with it, shampoo our hair with it, use it to clean the windows, stove, refrigerator, our toilets... it's a MIRACLE! Every looks so shiny and it smells so exotic. Like being in the Caribbean listening to steel drum music, feeling the warm breeze, sipping on a coconut mix. mmmm... ok, I'll wake up now and realize I'm at work!
Why would they call it "carnuba" if it contains no wax? Carnuba is a wax.
The only reason I would care is because my 911 has Expel film on it, and the use of wax would cause yellowing of the film.
It's a blend, so it does contain carnauba and synthetic polymers. Meguiars Gold Class I believe is not a blend and wouldn't have any adverse effects on the film, and you still get that delectable scent.
lots of ceramic coating options for the DIY'er!
it's the prepping of the paint, polishing, wet sanding, compounding...getting it perfect before applying a new coating that takes a lot of time, the right tools, know-how and patience.
My sister-in-law worked with an exotics club in New Jersey for a while; she hooked me up with some P21S stuff that I'm still using. The car wash is awesome - whatever oils/synthetics it contains makes my paint look amazing. And my paint is NOT amazing. It's thrashed.
When I'm buying my own, it's Meguiars or Griot's.
Sorry, man. LMGTFY can be offensive, but generally less so than "DID YOU EVEN SEARCH, YOU TOOL?!?" (insert overbearing/demeaning search reference du jour from your favorite forum)...
My go to wash is ONR:

It's also what they recommend to use on their ceramic clear coats.
great all purpose soap. Use it in the exterior paint or interior plastics. Removed a lot of bottles off the shelf. I also use their gloss enhancer as I dry. Results make the paint pop!

my car is coated with optimum's gloss coat. Has been since March.
OK, I bought some of this and I just had to come say it is the S***.
I washed the Porsche in 15 minutes, it looks amazing, and it was easy.
I didn't want to waste the bucket of solution, so I gave a quick wash to the Mini, in direct sunlight, when it was 108 degrees, and it still worked great.
Customer for life.
Don't swallow everything the people pushing their ceramic coatings tell you.
Firstly, they MUST be applied perfectly by an expert applier.
Secondly, they are far better than waxes in the short and medium term.
BUT - they do eventually get scratches and damaged areas (far slower than non-ceramic neglected paintwork), and then you have a major problem.
For me, if I was buying a NEW car and only planning on keeping it 2-3 years I MIGHT consider it, but I would be simply pushing the problem on to the next owner.
But for my classic cars there is NO WAY I would use a ceramic coating on the paint.
And here's why:

Not to get too far off the topic of Meguiars Carunba wash, but I've had ONR for years. I've actually never used it to wash a car, but it in a spray bottle diluted with pure distilled water, and I use that to clean up our daily driver Audi with is regularly parked outside due to lack of garage space. The birds either love the car or hate it, I'm not really sure which, but it gets hit often and the ONR spray is perfect for spot cleaning so that bird droppings don't etch into the paint.
I've used the P21S Bodywork Shampoo on my Guards Red 996 (as well as numerous other cars) for the longest time and loved the results. I've recently switched to Optimum No Rinse (used as a traditional car wash with a bucket and hose) and think it is even better than the P21S for getting the car clean and leaving behind a super glossy shine.
Whether I am waxing or coating a car, I will take a couple of days to remove the defects in the paint. The paint prep is the same IMO. Unless you want to wax over the defects in the paint, which you could do the same with the coating (but sealing those defects permanently by skipping that paint correction step)
coatings are easy to apply, you just need to do your homework.
they sell pads and compounds to remove ceramic clear coats. It's a longer process to correct coated cars but it can be done.
all of my cars are coated. Regular washes are faster and easier, and there's no need to wax them. The gloss is always there and swirling happens at a much slower rate. With my cars seeing snow and snow brushes, the added durability of the coating is welcome.
There's nothing wrong with the waxes out there either. Waxes like Collinite can last a year or more if taken care of right. If you like waxing cars, keep waxing! If you find its a chore, get the car coated and forget about it.
