Hi everyone. I bought a green 996 hardtop for $300 over a year ago and never got around to using it. Painting quotes were between $700 to over $1000 so I waited and considered my options. I decided on a vinyl wrap using 3M Scotchprint 1080 in carbon fiber black. I purchased the material for around $160 from Auto Vinyl Solutions (

) and had a local vehicle advertising company apply it ($144). I still need to get the tan headliner done in all black but overall I'm really stoked with how it looks. I've seen some comments that driving a cab with the hardtop is like driving a different car. I totally agree. It seem stiffer but that might be my imagination. It clearly is quieter. I bought an electric hoist from Harbor Freight and built a cradle from some metal electrical conduit. I covered that with a hollow swimming noodle (that the kids use in the pool). Once I get that hung up on the garage ceiling I'll post some pictures of the setup. I smile every time I drive that beautiful car. Michael
It will last a long time. I've had a CF wrap on my entire car for well over a year and is still looks great. And my car sees a boat load of track time. I also had a couple wraps before that, and each one showed little to no wear before it was replaced.

nice mod for a fraction of the paint job. the matte looks very nice, you can even do a gloss black , which will pry look just as if the top was painted. but the matte will definitely show less imperfections.
For the interior trim you can have it dyed. My buddy bought one with the beige interior trim and he has a grey interior. Took it to a local auto upholstery shop and they dyed it. You can't tell it was ever beige and it has been 3-4 years now.
