I went to go place my order last night and I checked the site re info for int'l shipping, no joy.

Still having a hard time getting a status update on the bottle openers, but they sent me a free pen today with "996" engraved on it.
OK, guys, thanks for all your help in designing a cool 996 hat and T-shirt! Here's the initial thread:
https://rennlist.com/forums/996-foru...996-shirt.html
So, I have been speaking with a friend who can make these, and we can make this a "go," but I need to see if there is enough interest. This is just a "fun" project, not a business venture.
I'm just a Joe Schmoe, not a business, so before putting a huge effort into finalizing things I need to see if at least 50 hats and 50 shirts would sell. Don't want to get stuck with a pile of these.
Details:
1.
Hats:
The hats will be 100% cotton with adjustable headband, available in two color schemes. The artwork will be embroidered. Check out the link above. I'm thinking very similar as for the 914 hats in the link above.
Below is a very rough prototype. The final hat will be much better quality (the prototype was done on a cheapo "throw-away" hat), but this gives you a general idea. I'm going to move the "996" up a bit closer to the car outline, too.
2.
Shirts:
They will be 100% preshrunk cotton. There will be four colors available to select from.
I'm thinking black, gray, maroon, and blue. The light colors are easier, since it only takes two colors for the silk screening. Dark colors require three colors, since the image first has to be done in white.
As noted in the original thread, the 996 font is similar to, but not identical to, the Porsche font, since we don't want any copyright issues.
So, for this to work, we need a total of about 50 hats and 50 shirts. I've been working on pricing. Looks like the hats will cost $25 each plus shipping and handling, and the shirts will be $20 each plus shipping and handling. S&H is is anticipated to be about $5 per item (I think there will be a reduced rate for multiple items in an order. The guy that will be doing the production will handle orders, delivery, etc. on a web page set up for this).
So, let's see if there's enough interest. Let me know the following:
1. Number of hats I can count on you for.
2. Number of hats I can count on you for.
If you have any additional input, let me know.
Rough hat prototype, so you can get the general idea:
The T-shirt will be the same design as on the hat, across the front of the shirt. Once I see if there's enough interest, I'll have a prototype made, and we can play with that some.
7 bonus points for bringing a joke full-circle. Of course you're used to that, having to steer that Emb garbage scow around every vaguely dark cloud.
Heh. I know you drive much more bitchin' stuff, but I wanted to stick with the theme.
You fat, glorious bastard. Oh, wait, that's me. Barkeep! There's a hole in this glass...
Alright, let's get organized. Below is a list of members and what they would like. Most want one of each so those will go under "Both". Some wanted both, and an additional shirt or hat, so their name is under "Both" and again under "Shirt" or "Hat". If some want two or more shirts/hat, then the qty is in parentheses with any application note.
Instructions: If you are interested in an item, use the "reply with quotes" button and add yourself within the quote.

Colors haven't been finalized yet. Here's what I'm thinking:
Hats:
Two hat colors (blue and tan) like the 914 hats. For the thread, probably Royal Blue car on the tan hats, with black "996." For the blue hats, maybe silver thread, with red "996." Need to make sure everything contrasts enough to show up.
Shirts:
Choice of four colors for the shirts: I'm thinking: black, gray, blue, maroon. Several color choices for the car outline and "996".
Speak up if you guys have any preferences, and I'll see what we can do. I need to keep the final production to about four choices, or it gets crazy in a hurry.
Nope, no 996 ownership required. And, remember, the Holidays are rapidly approaching. These will make great gifts!
The XXXXL should look something like this:
Hey! You want to be the Official Tally Master? Keep track of if (when?) we hit the 50? That would be great.
.
I'll start with a both, but depending on colors I might want an extra hat.
For the hats I'd say either a black or dark blue hat with white/silver or red stitching and a medium to light gray hat with black stitching.
For shirts a classic black with white ink would be perfect.

This is true but, I do not discriminate against the boobies. I do find asshat to be my new favorite word though. Along with fu*ktard. I like that word quite a bit.

Looks like we are about 60% of the way or a little more towards the goal.
Tell all your 996 buds.
Also, any of you on the 996 Facebook page (I'm not on Facebook, but I know there is a page for 996'ers.). 6Speed? Etc.
Guys, don't just say I want xxx, add yourself to the list in a quote reply
you could easily get missed
Next person that adds themself, add in the 3 above that did not add themselves to the list
if da glove don't fit, ya can't convict
and no, I'm not one of Schnelly's alter-egos. We have actually been seen together and Cuda can vouch for that
Then again, maybe both Cuda and I are alter-egos
Maybe KK too, just so Schnelly can stir the crapola
Woohoo! Next shirt hits the 50 mark.
Come on guys, don't you all have heads that need hats? I know there are a good number of Cab and pho-coupe owners, doesn't that type of driving require a hat?
If you own a Targa, you definitely need a hat. Unless you're worried about your hairdresser hairstyle getting messed up.
Update: aargh! You beat me to it!
Her's the color schemes I used for the 914 hats. I think I'll use the same, unless there are a bunch of you that want something different. Again, I need to keep it limited to two color schemes.
To be clear, BOTH options will be available. So, if someone doesn't want tan, no prob. But, if there is a great preference for blue and some other color than tan, chime in.
In the interests of catering to all you drunken sots, working on a bottle opener too.
The blue/red/silver hat is a great combo.
The tan...well.
I'll go for the blue shirt and the blue hat. Because midnight blue car, red Brembos.
By the way, JayG: Like the '
RTFT
' abbreviation. Never saw that one before.
Alrighty, guys, work is progressing. Following up tomorrow on the bottle openers ( a different supplier).
Need to finalize shirt colors (3 or 4 max).
My suggestions: Black, Royal Blue (or similar), Gray, and Maroon. Comments?
Hats: I guess we will go with dark blue or black and gray/grey?
The printer would like to go with grey for the car silhouettes, so that it will show up well on all shirt colors.
[Hmmm... on second thought, I better nix the gray T-shirt.]
Maybe I should make the "996" bigger on the shirts? It needs to stay at that same proportion for the hats though.
Squeak up or forever hold your peas.
Preliminary prototype:
This looks great Cuda! Maybe spacing the 9 9 6 just slightly farther apart on the shirts would do the trick for you but I don't think the font requires enlarging. Love it.
Ooohhh I like the idea of a maroon shirt
My choices:
Hat #1a - Black
Hat #1b - Navy Blue
Hat #2a - Dark Gray
Hat #2b - Light Gray
Shirt 1 - Black
Shirt 2 - Maroon
Bal, ya mucked something up. Is this what you meant?:
If I am counting correctly. that's a total of 34 hats and 56 shirts. Need more hat orders. 50 bottle openers will be produced. I'll post pix soon.
I like the Maroon option too! While I agree with he "too many cooks" comment, I will add, if anything I would make the "996" subtle as IMHO the silhouette should be the focal point.
Sorry, guys, can't seem to figure out how to update the list.....yes, technologically challenged, here...... someone help, please.
If the hat is black, I am in for one
If the t-shirt is black and white, I am in for 1 each.........XL
The t-shirts have all the printing on the front? right? Any chance, (2nd batch) "996" on the front, and the silhouette on the back.....? Do this in long sleeve, and I would take one black and one white.........
that work? Let me know how much and how you want $$$$.
Cheers,
Well that's the official slang name and the new nick name for Alansglide "Mr. Spats"
I personally prefer spatulas.
I wonder if someone can do a photoshop of a 996 T-shirt with Spatulas.
Cuda:
Yeah - iPad IB AutoGroup app made the list into a single line.
Also, you may wish to look into Google Forms to collect this data as well as sizing, color, etc. It is free and works pretty well.
For now, yes, just this style, as presented above. If there is enough interest, maybe we can do more options later. Payment will be through the same web site you will order them from. Prolly Paypay and major CC's once its finished. That's being set up now.
Bal, I took a quick look at Google Forms. It may be useful for the bottle openers, since I'll have to track and send those myself.
In for a shirt, really like that light blue example. Also would like a bottle opener or two.
What is Johnny going to wear, 993, crossed out, 996 crossed, 997 then back to 996 because our great interiors ?

The really frustrating thing is that none of you idiots have noticed what I did. You all disappoint me
Maybe I should move over to the 996TT forum to be with a higher caliber of forum member...
Hey, in addition to my order for a hat and shirt, I'd like two asshats, as well. Can someone add me to the list? I'm too lazy to figure out how to do it myself.
Thanks.
Holy f*ck! I should have known that gnat can be sneaky like that.
Anyway, Mike knows what I asked for. That should be good - list or no list.
Gnat, well done sir! Hats off to you.
OK, all, the web site for the T-shirts is up. Gotta do some minor beta testing before it goes "live." Also, I think I want to have the hats available at the same time as the shirts. Still working out a few details. Bottle openers should be available in about 2 weeks.
ROCK ON MIKE!
Since there is no white shirt, I will take 2 black ones, once this is all set and ready to go. Nice job, psyched to pick all this stuff up!
Suggest long sleeves, for next shot? 996 on front, silhouette on back? Just askin'
Awesome job Mike. I don't care what Gonzo says in our PMs, you're alright in my book!
Guess you don't know Rubik as well as he thinks you do
He should only be in the Both list
Easy there Rubik, I still have several plans to harass Mike over this project. Remember, he did
volunteer
for this, so he deserves for people to bitch and moan. Oh, and if ANYTHING goes wrong with my shirts, you can bet that Jake's gonna get an earful, too.

Just to keep you guys informed, project is still very much alive. Vendors have been slower than hoped, as always seems to be the case in such ventures.
Yeah, really.
I'm trying my best to give the vendors my money.
Well, they will sure make great Christmas, Hanukah, and Kwanza gifts!!!
Just noticed today that there's a company that does all this type of work right down the street from me. Will use them next time, so that I can go down and camp on their doorstep until the project is finished.
I noticed in HayG's selfies that Mike was blatantly and egregiously rubbing our nose in it by wearing one of his 914 hats!
If only we had a drunk nutter out there that could "explain" the situation to him...
details on payment options, please................................
let me know when you want the shipping addy....................................
I'll be checking my mail.................................................................... .......
They will be for sale on a web site where you will be able to choose colors, sizes, etc. From the website you will be able to pay via PayPal (still working out maybe also credit cards, not sure yet), and enter your shipping info.
Cuda! How's it going buddy? I know you like to kick us in the nuts by keeping wearing the self-created 914 hat, but come-on! We are dying of thirst here in the desert and you're washing your face with clear water right in front of us.
BTW, can you do a Macan hat design? I can send you graphics and it should be easy peazy!
We can get a feel for how many peeps would want to order in the Macan Forum (macanforum.com). The one in RL is pretty dead.

OK, I just spoke with the hat and shirt vendor. He needs to take some good photos of the hats to post on the web site, then we are all set to go.
Yeah, I can do a Macan hat/shirt if there is enough interest. We need to be very careful of copyright issues, so any images can't be directly of the vehicle or use any Porsche fonts. Even then, the Porsche henchmen are everywhere. Hopefully they are more worried about the VW implosion than messing around with some small-scale punks doing a few T-shirts for their friends.

(Henchman speaking) ^That's the way it starts...^
WHYYYYY?!?!?!?!
If you'd stop drinking and hanging out with Hooters girl skanks and petting snakes all day, this kind of stuff wouldn't be happening, dammit.
So do we all sir. So do we all...
Mike?!?!?
Every body pauses and stares at me
My head is uncovered and cold as you can see
I know just who to blame for this catastrophe!
So my one wish on Christmas Eve is as plain as it can be!
All I want for Christmas
is my two Porsche hats,
my two Porsche hats,
see my two Porsche hats!
Gee, if I could only
have my two Porsche hats,
then I could wish Mike
"Merry Christmas."
All I want for Christmas
is my two Porsche shirts,
my two Porsche shirts,
see my two Porsche shirts.
Gee, if I could only
have my two Porsche hats,
then I could wish Mike
"Merry Christmas!"
Gonna get that printed up on my holiday cards.
I sent the vendor an email about the hats. They said they need the sample back for photos for the web site. But I sent them early last week, so I need to see what's up with that.
Ahhhh. Memories of my misspent youth
Timewarp and Superheroes are still in my playlists, but I just can't force myself to watch the whole thing anymore though
Hey all....

Well, this has been fun!!!
Mike
I was super excited to get the PM that the site was up. Then bummed that they don't offer any shipping option to Canada. I will try to give them a call to see if I can sort something.
I'm making the artwork free domain for you guys.
So, if you have something you want printed or embroidered with the design, call Monique or Jaime at AmericanPrintWerks and see if they will do it up for you.
Great thanks ! I'd like to use the logo and embroider it on a long sleeve work shirt.
If they don't have the shirt I want will you email me the file ?
Thanks again for doing this Mike.
My artwork was pretty low resolution (I have no graphic arts skills whatsoever, so I did the work in Microsoft Word).
Jaime took my crappy artwork and somehow made a workable file. So, I can send you my Word file, or maybe you can just send the shirt you want embroidered to AmericanPrintWerks and they can embroider it for you?
I went to go place my order last night and I checked the site re info for int'l shipping, no joy. Then saw your post. I guess I can try shipping to a PO box in Buffalo as a last resort.
Thanks for doing this anyway, Mike. I'm sure the shirts and hats will look great for those who can get their hands on 'em.
Give Jaime or Monique a call. I bet they can do shipping to Canada, just not directly through the web site.
Would hate for you to have to visit Buffalo. I used to live there, so I know.
Yeah, let me know when stuff shows up. They didn't pre-make the items, so it's not like there's a stack sitting there just to be bagged and mailed.
Custom work, ya'all.
Schnelly, I'd see if they will send me the graphics file. My version is very low resolution.
I did, they are working out shipping costs and will bill me direct via paypal. Once I get final word I'll update. At first it was a no, but then they said they'll try to help and it looks like they are doing just that.
I haven't made my purchase yet because their site is calculating Tax incorrectly for me. I emailed them last week, but have had zero response.
Guess I will have to try calling them...
I thought that goes without saying. I'm just glad I didn't order a shirt. The way I'm eating and drinking these days, I'd need a XXL by the time my order got here...
Yeah guys, a bit bummed that it hasn't shipped yet.
I spoke with Monique, yesterday, wondering WTF its been a couple of weeks and I have no info, no method of shipping or tracking info. WHY?! Because they are STILL compiling the orders. I assume that they want to get all the orders in place, so when they start the printing, it can get a giant batch done in one shot....simply need to change the color of the shirt/hat....anywho, she said they SHOULD be (hope to ?) be shipping next week??? After I called, I got the e-mail, too! I am not going to hold my breath, but I am hoping this stuff arrives very shortly..........
right, right right, I forgot: patience is a virgin, its never been tried?
we'll see
I guess Monique has been getting heat - I got a status email from her - but she didn't actually say who she was or what the status was for. Assumed it related to the 996 swag...good to know it really was.
We know they are a small shop and this is a small order. They were/are probably waiting for a minimum number of orders to come in before starting a run.
It's all pretty normal for this type of thing.
I hope people realize this ain't Amazon Prime and aren't giving them a hard time...
Yeah my first thought was "who dafuq?" followed by "WTF?". This stuff was my guess, but then seeing Gonzo's post confirmed it. I sent her a "thanks for the update" response just to make sure she isn't only hearing complaints
Based on the number of orders so far, some miscreants who asked to be on the initial list have clearly not placed their orders.
Get 'em in now, guys, or forever feel the dejection, sorrow, shame, and despair of missing out on this once in a lifetime opportunity.
Also, remember, T-shirts wear out, so some of you may want to order a few spares to put in the back of the closet.
Still having a hard time getting a status update on the bottle openers, but they sent me a free pen today with "996" engraved on it.
I have no need for a Cap or T-Shirt
Oh, sure: It's all fun 'n games, until the IMS takes a dump: Then try and find an orthopedic surgeon that'll touch it.
Thanks, Frisbee.
Hey all, I just got an email that the 996 bottle openers have been shipped. I'll let you know when they arrive.
Once they get here, you can order them from me via Paypal. I'll post the info. once I have them in hand.
Cuda, we are local guys not too far away, i'll take a hat & a shirt, Large, I can meet up with u or do paypal and ship, doesn't matter. And really, the "VAL" idiot above needs to FO....
marcus
Hey Marcus, I don't have the hats/shirts, they have to be ordered directly from the web site. They are in production now, so put in your order today if you can.
When the bottle openers show up, I can get them over to you no prob., you are only a mile or so from here.
OK, guys, the final phase of our project is now complete. The bottle openers showed up today. They are laser-engraved anodized aluminum.
There are 70 available for sale, so when they are gone, they are gone.
Price: $5 each plus $2 shipping for the first one, $1 each for any more than two.
Send me a PM, and I'll send you my address where to send cash, check, money order, gold bullion, or other means of payment.
Guess they suffered a CPF, but the question is if it was a known MOF?
Don't suppose the printing machine has an IMSB by chance?
Looks cool otherwise.
Bummer
Just got an email from Monique that they are aware of a printing issue and will be shipping replacements out next week.
I continue to be impressed with their updates.
Hey all, I was at autocross all day today. Jaime frantically called me this morning when the error was discovered, and says he will send out replacements right away.
My guess is that the "966" version will become the Porsche equivalent of the Inverted Jenny, and will be worth a FORTUNE!!!!
I can't wait to see the documentary on CNBC..."The Making of the 996 Shirts and Hats".
I agree that this has been far more entertaining than simply clicking a button and getting your merchandise in two days.
It is rather fitting. As Porschephiles, we are used to loving things that are over engineered...expensive...yet flawed...
Hmmm... had nary a problem with my Posche. Here we are getting set for the big log splitting contest.
And, my stripped down Auto-Log-X machine. Gonna fit it with some Direzza ZII Star Specs, and it will be unbeatable! Think I should go with the 33/40/4s on the front?
I would agree. Just means that I see no point in getting upset since they are being proactive about it all.
I have no expectation of people/companies being perfect, but I do have an expectation (rarely met) of them owning their processes/delays/mistakes and letting me know without me having to pester them.
Hopefully they just sent you the wrong tracking number rather than sending your stuff to the wrong state
I think there is an attourney running around here somewhere with an appropriately festive color Turbo. Maybe he'd be willing to play Santa to all us good little 966 boys and girls and handle the deliveries...
For the life of me, I couldn't figure out how the number got flipped, but not the car outline.
I spoke with Jaime this weekend. Here's how the 996/669 thing happened:
The silk screen operator wanted to move the "996" a bit further from the car silhouette. So, he cut the stencil apart. Then, when he installed the two pieces on the silk screen frame, he accidentally flipped the number.
Anyway, Jaime will have corrected shirts sent out.
Hey, he also sent me a pic of a jacket he is working on, personalized for Jay Leno. Jaime is the camera operator for Leno's Garage.
Maybe Leno would like a 669 shirt? [Ah, forget it, they don't come in XXXL].
Mine indeed came today. Hats are really nice. Shirts are good too, misprint and all.
Now I'm in a running battle with my son about which hat belongs to who
Got my "966" shirt tonight as well, not really disappointed, actually kind of neat to have the misprint, will keep everyone guessing.
Didn't mean to bust your ***** Cuda, it takes a lot of effort and time to put all of this together, much appreciated sir
I live in Arnold, MD...and I just received my 966 shirt today! This is after receiving an email from the printer on Saturday saying there was an error and my shirt wouldn't be shipped until 2016. Oh well, an extra Xmas gift for me...
Recd my corrected tee's today, American Printwerks did a nice job and I appreciate their response to get the replacement shirts out quickly and thanks to Cuda911 for his coordination of the 996 project.
Looks like they're out of stock here:

I emailed them and asked to be notified when they have some more. Think we could put the link in the first post so folks don't have to scroll through 23 pages to find it? =)

Hmmm... yeah, I see what you mean. I had to order shirts in bundles. Maybe they ran out. Give Monique a call there and see what she says. I bet they have some shorts laying around, the question is, what sizes do they have.
The email that I received mentioning the printing error indicated that they would be shipping after new year. So, I gave the 966 shirt to my oldest son as a Xmas present
Hey guys, Monique updated the inventory on the website so more are available in case anyone else wants one:

If you use it to open and consume enough bottles in a short period of time, you won't care anymore. Also, I suggest selling your car and buying a
blue
one so that it matches the bottle opener.
Got my shirts, correct ones, and hat today. I'm in Canada. Shipping was a costly $40, so between exchange and shipping you don't what to know what I paid for my items. But I committed to the support, so support I did
IMO, decent stuff. Thanks again for putting this together. Neat pieces.
Nice looking stuff! [I think the license plate is mounted upside down, though.]
Only 3.99 to ship from UK? I thought it would be a lot more.
I'll order a T-shirt.
Interesting first post, by the way.
A nip of sarcasm around here. You'd have had to read this whole thread to catch the inside joke.
I'm also thinking hijacking a thread with a competitive product could be seen as uncool?
Well, a late Chistmahanukwanza for me!
Not only did my hats and shirts show up today, but I also received this FREE 966 key chain from the company that made the bottle openers.
Well, now that we all know the address to the Cuda Compound (as well as the phone number), we might as well have the long-rumored 996 forum get together there. I'm getting tired of waiting for DT Miller to send out the evite for the one I had planned for his driveway.
My Hat arrived today over the pond, like cope cee - shipping, import duty, handling etc made it a costly hat but as you can see it makes me look a stunner..
Thanks for putting it all together, I feel part of the 'club' now

Hey guys, I've had a lot of requests for the 914 hats. I have a new local vendor (a mile from my house) so I can get this done a lot easier (many lessons were learned!
) and have more control over the whole process. I will be getting these done within a couple weeks max.
Any interest from you?
I had a local shop, in Portland Oregon, design and embroider a 996 'logo' (See below). The shop printed the logo on shirts and hats for me. I think they turned out very nice. Let me know if you are interested and I will post the name of the shop. The shop sells shirts but will also embroider the logo on clothes the customer brings in to the shop. The cost is a flat $6 per clothing item.
I have no affiliation with the shop.
So you blatantly stole Cuda's design and are now pimping the shop in Portland?
You see nothing wrong with this?
At least give the man some credit and a $6 sample shirt.
Didn't even realize I 'used' anyone's design. I used a Google image as the base and had a local vendor Argument to resemble a 996 . If that infringed on another user's design, I apologize. so Cuda I personally apologize. No copyright infringement or mal intent....
KC loves filing class actions. So does DT. Both are like badgers in a corner.
However, we can all be bought off for a beer.
[For the record, I made $0.00, so am seeking treble damages.]
