I'd highly recommend you look into a "Master Blaster" I'd used leaf blowers for years but my son let me try his Master Blaster and aside from its rather hefty $400 price tag it is amazing.

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

At 51 years of age, I was always interested in a 911 Porsche. I have had several Corvettes, and recently drove home our ordered 2016 C7 z51 coupe. I looked for awhile, and came across this 2004 triple black wide body (what I wanted as far as color) one female owner with 46.5k miles. My only real dislike was the tiptronic trans, but that is a good thing for my wife, and there are a ton of opinions - good and not so good on that trans. The main thing was the car had abundant "micro-scratches" The kind you get when someone washes the car with the same towel that they did the whole car with, wheels, etc. Black is probably the worst color for this type of washing error. So this weekend was spent with a compound/polish treatment. She came out great! The rear deck lid script was removed by someone at a Miami Heat game parking, so that has been ordered. I love the Techart 19x8.5 fronts and 19x11 rear wheels. I love the car so far, I am pretty ****, so just getting things dialed in, and learning some unique things on a car I have never owned before, so far I am liking the experience. The car overall is in excellent condition. I just finished the rear garage (32x26 air conditioned) so that is where the new/older 911 will live it's life. The front garage houses the new C7 Vette, and two Harleys (a 2014 V-rod, heavily modified motor designed by Porsche) so I guess I am somewhat of a strange bird on my vehicle choices p4_zpsl6a2jued.jpg p5_zpsdohh2oeu.jpg p6_zpswlf9dklj.jpg rear%20garage_zpsheeely9l.jpg DSC_0457_zpshpdbhyeb.jpg a1a_zpskeuukrpx.jpg

POST 2Original post

Congrats and welcome. BTW, I also have a cab/tip like yours. BTW, I am been lusting after a Vette for years. Thought about getting a V-rod but settled on an 02 Road King Classic instead. Looks like you have a full dresser next to the V-rod? P.S. based on the "sag" of your exhaust, new engine mounts may be a good place to start getting things dialed in

POST 3 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Thanks! yes a 2012 ultra classic, and the v-rod is a 2014. How involved and costly is it to replace engine and transmission mounts?

POST 4Original post

That is a sweet looking car. Congrats......Nice garage as well for your toys. Enjoy

POST 6Original post

Nice new cab! You have a great toy collection in your garages. welcome to the club.

POST 7 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Thanks!! Do you know the actual part numbers for the engine and trans mounts? 2004 4S tiptronic Thank You - Jon.

POST 8Original post

Did the car come with the TT rear deck or did you put that on? That is something I am looking at down the road.

POST 9Original post

Beautiful car, looks brand-new... From the rear, it looks identical to a "Turbo" isn't it, very nice, enjoy your Cab. Cheers,

POST 10Original post

Congrats. After you clay and give your car a two stage paint correction polish job(mezerna recommended), coat it with something like CQuartz and top it with a product like Reload. After each wash, only dry it using quick detailer and mf towel to prevent scratches. I recommend Ultima Waterless Wash Plus for best performance/value. I usually use a combo of leaf blower and mf/qd. And if I'm remote, California Waterblade and QD/mf combo. This has prevented the soft black paint from scratches. I have 2 black cars in the fleet including my wife's that sits outside 24/7. Neighbors are always asking how my wife's car stays so clean looking. Of course if you already know this, then please disregard and get to it.

POST 12Original post

I would suggest replacing the engine mounts only, not the transmission mount - unless you know there is a problem with it. If the transmission mount is not torn (visual inspection) you can put an insert in it (function first sells them) that should help prevent it from wearing out. My understanding is that the transmission mount is a tough job and may not be necessary. The engine mounts are easy to do.

POST 13Original post

Welcome! Looks great!! Love the back of the C4S. Question.... was the rear strip painted black? We all (C4S owners) have the red strip that goes from tail light to tail light. Yours is black. Just wondering if it was painted or replaced with a black one which I've never seen. Looks great though. especially if you wanted to upgrade your tail lights.

POST 18Original post

Great garage and awesome toys!! Black is a bitch to keep pristine. I'd highly recommend you look into a "Master Blaster" I'd used leaf blowers for years but my son let me try his Master Blaster and aside from its rather hefty $400 price tag it is amazing. Good investment for you with all your toys especially the bikes blow drying them works fantastic.

POST 19Original post

Awesome work with the polisher. I really need to spend some time on my paint, but...lazy...so damn lazy... The C7 is sweet. My black '99 C4 lives next to my white '96 C4 - so maybe it's not as strange as you think it is. You're allowed to like more than one kind of toy...

POST 20 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Quotes source post: 13216957

I have used an Echo gas blower for about the last 5 years. The thing is awesome, I think it's a 180 mph blower, but it's a "soft pull" start, it starts every time with choke closed and a very slight pull on the cord. Wife loves it, as far as a blower - lol. Weird, but if you pull it like a normal fast pull, it will not start. Honestly starts on the first pull every time after five years of continuous use. I have a 2013 F250 super duty 6.7 power stoke diesel, and it is the only way to dry this truck without taking all day, a bunch of chrome to boot - great for the bikes, and less/no scratches. Use it on all the vehicles. We are out in the country, so I made a rain barrel with a filter system and a jet pump to wash the toys as our well water is treated, but has some hardness and will leave spots. The rain water is such a difference. ford-chevy_zpszguzj9rp.jpg

POST 22 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Yup - you were right, thanks! Called my local Porsche mechanic and requested a labor only quote for motor mounts and the new trans. mount. I was told 1.5 hours (labor @ 89.00 per hour) for the trans. mount and 2.5 hours for the two motor mounts. I thought that was strange, he replied that he has done a ton of both. Trans. looks like a bitch (at least for the shade tree mechanic) I told him to just do the trans mount, and I'll do the motor mounts. FedEx showed up today @ 1pm by 1:45 the job was done. WHAT A DIFFERENCE OVERALL! also, the exhaust drop is gone, nice and snug. I guess supporting the whole engine and trans weight for 12 years, the original mounts just had enough. The hot Florida weather probably does not help either. Still going to have the shop do the trans mount, with the needed press and all, I have been assured labor won't exceed 200.00 - just not worth doing that myself IMO. aaaaaaa_zpsn02b4v8s.jpg

POST 23Original post

2.5 hours for motor mounts? Is that accurate? My Indy said the book says one hour (and online it says about a 40 minute job)
