Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

Would this be an option replacing just the front struts ?

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

What's a reasonable price for having both front struts replaced ? My local dealer quoted me just over $900 a piece and this seems pretty steep, so I'm wondering if I should be shopping around or if this is the norm ?
I'm checking with another indy nearby to see what they will quote. Alignment was another $250 at the dealer. The indy said alignment may not be needed ? Yes the price included parts and labor.
On a C2 it takes an hour or so to change a strut. This assumes that you are swapping in a coil over. If you have to take the strut apart then add another half to an hour. Top mounts, control arms etc. can add to this. A C4 takes longer as the front drive shafts prevent the strut dropping down low enough to clear the fender so add more time.
It is hard to know if the price is right without knowing what struts/shocks are included, there is a wide range of prices.
If the car has not be aligned in some time you should do an alignment.
Thank you for the feedback, seemed way high to me as well considering I could buy the parts myself for less than half that and the labor shouldn't be that much.
^This^ (i.e. C2 or C4) is true to some extent. C4 is certainly more in depth than the C2. Even assuming a C4 with Bilstein B8's, it's still high. All I'm saying is, you should shop around a little. Good Luck
Found another older posting which said for $1800, one could install an M030 Suspension Kit installed and aligned for $1800. Would this be an option replacing just the front struts ?
At ^those^ prices, with installation and alignment, you're realistically looking at something like $2800 - $3200 (US) to have somebody do it for you... I'd think installation is going to be at least $1000 and the alignment will run you between $250 - $450 (Porsche "book time" is $399.95 - plus any incidentals/shop fees etc. - ask me how I know...
