Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

7 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

0 evidence records excluded for query context · 0 excluded by outcome qualification · 0 adjusted by outcome qualification.

0 acknowledgements have no verified action link; they do not establish a repair result.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Hi everybody, Well I'm new here and I need your help please. My 996 1999 c2 has been making this annoying noise and I'm worried since I haven't been able to spot the source. When the car is cold everything is fine but after 10 min driving the ugly noise shows up. Any idea will be highly appreciated, the YouTube link is below, thanks a lot. https://youtu.be/PdEnVdxFAx8

POST 3 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Do you think so?

POST 4Original post

Perhaps -- also could be a chain tensioner, but sounds more like a belt or pulley-related noise. Does it vary with the engine speed?

POST 5Original post

Once the noise shows up, turn off the engine, remove the serpentine belt and hand spin all the pulleys and accessories driven by the belt. Then start the engine w/o the belt and run the engine for a few seconds to check for noise.
