If you want high quality mufflers with "high quality sound" (not just loud or rasping) fit for a 996, I can definitely recommend these!

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

I'm searching for a set of new mufflers for my 996.1 C4. My local Porsche Center can provide me with a system from FVD, but before I make my decision, I'm trying to find out the major differences between some of the systems I'm looking at. These are the candidates so far: https://www.fvd.net/de-en/2101119960...v-aproved.html https://www.fvd.net/de-en/BES9960500...d-version.html https://www.fvd.net/de-en/BES9960500...v-version.html https://www.fvd.net/de-en/2101119960...t-version.html https://www.fvd.net/de-en/2101119960...t-version.html I've found a few video clips demonstrating the sound from the 21011199601OV "Export version", and I like it a lot - it's subtle enough at idle and aggressive, not obnoxiously loud at higher revs. However, I'm having a hard time finding videos/sound test from any of the other FVD systems mentioned above. I emailed FVD in Germany, asking them to describe the differences between the various systems, as well as a rating from "1" to "10" in terms of noise. This is the reply I got: Dear Marius In general the Export version are louder as the TUV versions. So when you only want to change the muffler I would recommend you the export version But if you plan to install in the future some sport catalytic we only can recommend the TUV version So from very quiet to extreme loud I would say TV is 5 and Export is 7. --- It's no surprise that the "sound" systems are louder than the "TUV" ones, but I would love to hear a direct comparison - also between the BES99605001S and the 21011199601OV. I'm very tempted to go with the 21011199601OV, but if I choose to install their X-pipes with 200CPI cats at some point later, I'm afraid it will be too loud for my liking. This is not my daily driver, so I want something with a bit more aggressive sound than the stock mufflers are providing, while still being "civilized" enough if needed - and not noisy enough to cause me any trouble at our "MOT". So my question is, does anybody have any experience with one or more of the exhaust systems mentioned above? If so, any recommendations? And, yes, I know there are several other systems out there, but for various reasons I'm sold on FVD (at least for now) Any help or thoughts appreciated.

POST 2Original post

I have the fvd headers, x-pipe w/200 cell cats and the fvd ecu tune w/ 84 mm Ipd Plenum. I only need the fvd sport exports mufflers to finish the job. I planned on sending my mufflers to fd motorsports for fister D's, but now that I've drove it for 3 months I want that complete fvd sound, so I can lose weight and gain a few hp. Call Rhonda at fvd, you won't be sorry. Quality stuff!

POST 3 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Nice, I bet your system will sound sweet when done😁 I ended up ordering these: https://www.fvd.net/de-en/BES99605001S/sport-mufflers-996-brombacher-tuv-version.html However, I haven't had time to fit them yet. I will also get the 200cpi x-pipes from FVD in the future! I'll try write some sort of review once I have the mufflers installed. The quality and finish looks second to none.

POST 4Original post

I guess I'll get the same ones. According to the response you got, I shouldn't put the exports on with full exhaust and tune. Let me know how you like them.

POST 5 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

I hope it was the right choice, especially with x-pipes in mind. I will!😁

POST 6Original post

Their X Pipe is a great value. I've had it for 5k miles and I love it

POST 7Original post

Thanks for posting this up! I was totally inundated with the Gundo/Fister, and Fabspeed threads I didn't know about the FVD systems. I was lusting after the Tubi, but it really seems like I can get similar soulful sounds from FVD for much less. Thanks! Now I just have to decide if the wife can live with the export version or go for the TUV one.

POST 8 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

So it's been a year already, but I'll post it anyway. Due to different circumstances, I haven't had the time to install the FVD mufflers until recently. The verdict: spot on for me! Just a little throatier while on idle and low revs, but when you step on it you get a really nice growl from 3000 rpm and up where you can hear the distinct sound of each of the 6 cylinders firing. Absolutely no droning, and no issues with fitment. If you want high quality mufflers with "high quality sound" (not just loud or rasping) fit for a 996, I can definitely recommend these! I can imagine it'll get even sweeter with the x-pipes and high flow cats!

POST 10 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Here's a pic from the installation. I'll try to do some recording as soon as possible. I need to get a hold of a gopro or similar.

Excellent picture, looks like a very high quality part. Thanks!
