Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

I'm running a stock C2, no center radiator, nothing special at all.
Leading evidence: 'Run stock c2, no center radiator, nothing special at all' (no explicit attributable resolution; this is a reported action or suggestion). Across 1 matching discussions, The most frequently discussed action is 'Replace oil' (1 discussions). For that action, 0 discussions report a resolution and 0 report an unsuccessful attempt. No action has an explicit, attributable resolution report under the current rules. These are forum reports and suggestions, not a confirmed diagnosis.

Also, I change my oil after no more than 3 track days.

Next time Im out Ill remember to bring along he Durametric and run the data from the ecu for temps for additional reference.

Suggestion
Seems some just run hotter, which I think has more to do with the gauge.
Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

Hi, I just wanted to get everyone's experience with their water temps on the track and see if mine were within range of what's considered average/acceptable.
After about a 15-20 min track session my water temp on the gauge cluster showed just a where i drew the red line(picture attached with RED LINE). At this point I drove about 2 cool down laps and all was back to where the white needle was.
99 C2
Ambient temps around 27C (81F)
No center radiator
1 year old Porsche coolant/mix
160F thermostat
OEM radiators
Thanks!
not unusual. gauge is crappy. If you haven't cleaned your radiators, I'd do that, and I'd consider a third radiator.
215 to 220 degree coolant temps are not out of realm of normal if really pushing hard.
My car is similar to yours, no matter how hot the ambient temperature gets, the needle never goes over the 100C line (just a tad inside your red line). I also have a 3rd radiator on my future to do list (many experienced P car track addicts have recommended this mainly to reduce the oil temps). Also, I change my oil after no more than 3 track days.
It's hard to say from the gauge since it's not very well-marked, and who knows how accurate it is or how much car-to-car variability there is. Mine is in F unlike yours in C; my needle never gets past the "0" in "180", which, if the scale is linear would mean something like ~205 degrees, but who knows what it actually means. I'm running a stock C2, no center radiator, nothing special at all.
I do have my high-speed fans wired to a switch that I can activate on demand, but so far it's not really seemed necessary.
I have had the same experience tracking my stock 99 C2 at Road Atlanta. A slight increase in indicated temperature. My radiators are completely clean. I did purchase a third row radiator kit that I will install prior to my next track day this summer since I am driving the car harder.
That's where mine was before I added the center radiator. Center radiator helped, but it still does not stay dead center. Seems some just run hotter, which I think has more to do with the gauge.
Have exact same setup and see over 110 degrees. Goes away quickly down to 100 after cool down laps.
However I think the oil in these cars get super warm, after a track session the temp stay high for a long time during highway drive. I guess the oil is so warm so it heats up everything and takes time for it to cool down. Lots of heat stored in the oil
Thanks for the replies. Definitely gives some nice perspective. Next time Im out Ill remember to bring along he Durametric and run the data from the ecu for temps for additional reference.
