Read evidence and context
Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

Suggestion
Gemballa may have been a cheaper way to repair the accident.

Suggestion
I would be concerned as to whether or not the original owner remembered to perform regular oil changes between the lines of cocaine.

I have on occasion wondered what it would take to replace the cheezy kit to put it back to it's original glory.

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

there is a 2000 911 gemballa gt cabrio near me so i went to check it out but i have some concerns
- its switched owners a few times so the current owner has no records
- they cant even tell me what was done to it, ecu tune, it has coilovers but not sure what i assume gemballa but i cant find info on them
- 2008 it shows an accident but no idea what, certinally nothing looks wrong
- cosmetic problems, paint swirls, little odds and ends that need to be replaced in the interior, all things i can handle easy enough
- it has the full gemballa bodykit including widened fenders, hood and wing and it looks quite good and it has 20" rims which are also nice but not sure its practical
my main question is what does the gemballa kit do to the value? increase / lower? i am trying to figure out down the road when i sell it what i will have to deal with
of course a ppi would have to be done before purchase, the common problems like ims / rms etc i can do those myself
thoughts? +5k, -3K etc? there seems to be very few so its hard to say what the price difference is vs a non gemballa
IMHO, Gemballa kit absolutely lowers the value, not to mention the accident history, sketchy background and no records. Sounds like a huge money pit. Do you really want a Gemballa look?
To each his/her own. Good luck.
That was my thought, but I censored myself
The other issues aside, the look of it will turn most buyers off. So that means it will be a hard sell which will either require a really low price or spend a long time waiting on the right buyer to come along.
For me, "free to any home" would not entice me to respond to an ad.
If you like it though and a detailed PPI checks out, beat the hell out of him on the price and go for it.
If you are at all unsure of the mechanicals or the look, run away.
That depends largely on how you buy it... There is a purple mid-80's Strosek 930 Turbo Cab around my parts for sale for $30k. I have on occasion wondered what it would take to replace the cheezy kit to put it back to it's original glory.
Truth told, I like the watercooled cars enough to not want to mess with it. I don't mind projects, but that would be a much larger project than I'd want to undertake anyway.
