Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

Reported cause
Tank was fine, it turned out to be a clamp on the large coolant hose was not tight enough.
Leading evidence: 'clamp' (1 discussions report identifying this cause; no attributable repair resolution). Across 1 matching discussions, the most frequently mentioned possible cause is 'clamp' (1 discussions; 1 report identifying it and 0 suggest it). The most frequently discussed action is 'Check coolant leak failure modes and implementing the right fix' (1 discussions). For that action, 0 discussions report a resolution and 0 report an unsuccessful attempt. No action has an explicit, attributable resolution report under the current rules. These are forum reports and suggestions, not a confirmed diagnosis.

Also checked the oil level visually w/dip stick and that is OK.

We replaced the tank, cap, and sensor then recharged the cooling system.

I'll make sure we check all the coolant leak failure modes and implementing the right fix.

Suggestion
Check your coolant tank, they're known to crack and as pressure builds it'll leak.
Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

After a spirited Father's Day drive in low 90's outdoor temperature, I found coolant on the garage floor a few hours after parking my 996. Hard to tell exactly how much coolant was expelled, but probably less than a pint. during the drive the temp gauge was in the range of 170-180 F, and everything seemed normal. I drive this 996 in FL during the winter, and ship it up to PA in the Spring. Nothing like this has happened before. Your suggestions please. Engine cold coolant tank level below min.
Less than a pint coolant on the floor.

Kind of hard to speculate from that angle. I'd put it up in the air (lift, ramps, or jack/jackstands) and pop my head under there to see where it is coming from. The reservoir is a good possibility, but I'd also pay attention to the hoses and drain bolt. If you've recently been in there, there is a possibility of snapping that plastic hose connector that is bolted to the rear of the engine which sends coolant to the oil cooler. You may find it useful to use a low pressure tester like a Uview Airlift to simulate running pressures.
I dunno about that location, looks a little forward for where the tank leak typical shows up. However, could be due to the the floor slant. I would check the top of the tank first to make sure it wasn't leaking out around the cap then down the drain hose by #1 cylinder. Spirited drive could have built some pressure and cap may not be tight enough or defective. Make sure it is 04 (blue) version and tight...repeat tight. If this is case, you should see crusty deposits beneath the cap seating area. Also check for tank overfill if you've been in there lately. Then agree with CDS above get under car and look around.
Thanks for comments and I did look at the cap (blue). There is no residue around the cap and I retightened it as suggested. Also checked the oil level visually w/dip stick and that is OK. Underneath the 996, there is a drop of coolant remaining on top of the left tail pipe before it joins the chrome tip. Looks like it leaked coolant directly under the tank or tank fittings, then flowed forward with the pitch of the garage floor.
Ah...my uneducated guess then is cracked water tank. When my tank failed the water only made it to the ground on occasion in the form of a drip or two. Car smelled terribly of anti-freeze post driving and I finally did see it on the drivers side tailpipe. Very hard to see the cracked tank in the car as it is in the back. Some say use a mirror. I found mine cracked after it was pulled.
Or tell the shop you want an OEM tank. Paul is right I've read some bad stuff about after market tanks. Porsche OEM tanks only go for about $160 or so depending who they are sourced from.
Dont automatically assume its the tank.. I had a similar small leak last week in the same location. Tank was fine, it turned out to be a clamp on the large coolant hose was not tight enough. Note that it was not the typical spring lamp that Porsche uses, it was a traditional screw type.
UPDATE: Coolant Tank Replaced!
The coolant tank was cracked and leaking under pressure. We replaced the tank, cap, and sensor then recharged the cooling system. Pretty straightforward now that it's resolved, so thanks for all the input and suggestions. /X3
