Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Hello all, I am not having much luck researching the wheels on the car I am about to buy. The wheels are on a 1999 C2 Cab. They are what appears to be fake three piece wheels. The option code under the frunk is 413, which as far as I can tell is "18" 993 Turbo-look wheels (not hollow spoke)", i.e. the standard Turbo twists. I doubt those are the wheels that the car was delivered with. I am curious if these wheels, which are rashed and need to be refurbished, are adding or subtracting from the value of this car. I do not even know if they are genuine Porsche wheels or aftermarket. They do have the colored center caps which are listed on the sheet with code 446. Your help is appreciated.

Sport Classic, cool wheel https://www.suncoastparts.com/product/993996SCW.html

POST 3Original post

Yes, Sport Classic II, I had them on my car for a while. They're not 'fake' three piece wheels, they're 'real' two piece wheels.

POST 4 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Interesting. I am thinking they were an expensive upgrade for someone, but maybe they are devaluing the car at this point. The owner just put on brand new Pilot Sports too.

POST 5Original post

Sport Classic II's are really nice wheels. You can refurbish (dip) them and they will look as good as new.

POST 6Original post

Those wheels could differently been an original option on your car they were one of the optional 18 inch wheels in 1999, here is mine with original wheels Rich

POST 7Original post

Sport Classic II's made by BBS for Porsche... Fake? Uh...no

POST 8 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

These wheels are starting to grow on me. Just got records showing that the owner has spent over $20K in repairs/maintenance on the car since 2011. Seems that all the usual suspects- IMS,RMS, clutch, plugs, coils, coolant res, AOS, computer, etc - have been addressed. Likely signing the deal tonight.

POST 9Original post

Great wheels. I have them on my Riv Blue Coupe. The previous owner needs some parallel parking lessons. I have a set of spare Sport "Design" wheels which have similar curbing in the rears bought used w snows and am going to try my hand at Steelstik repair & paint. good luck!

POST 10Original post

I've always like the Sport Classic II's! A bitch to keep clean though... Anyone know what they weigh?

POST 11Original post

I had some rash on mine and had them refurbished. They actually separate the centers from the barrel, weld and re-machine the lip and repaint the centers. They came out great and the entire bill was around $800 - $900.
