Read evidence and context
Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

I have used ATF and a syringe to shoot about 30 cc into the joint.
Leading evidence: 'Use atf and a syringe' (no explicit attributable resolution; this is a reported action or suggestion). Across 1 matching discussions, the most frequently mentioned possible cause is 'lower control arm (coffin arm)' (1 discussions; 0 report identifying it and 1 suggest it). The most frequently discussed action is 'Check play' (1 discussions). For that action, 0 discussions report a resolution and 0 report an unsuccessful attempt. No action has an explicit, attributable resolution report under the current rules. These are forum reports and suggestions, not a confirmed diagnosis.

Suspected cause
Most likely the lower control arm (coffin arm) with the ball joint.

Dealer wants a lot to replace (both) and then do an alignment and a few other things.

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

2001 911 Carerra was driven hard and put away wet, sad to say. Left front wheel spring/shock area is squeaky when driving. When parked the noise is pronounced when my weight is put on left fender over the wheel. Is this an easy grease or lubrication job and if so, how do I do it? Or could this be a more serious issue?
Most likely the lower control arm (coffin arm) with the ball joint. You can pop a hole in the boot on the ball joint and shoot some grease or WD40 in there and see if the squeaking stops. If it does, replace the arm - you may as well do both while you're at it...
That has been happening to the lower ball joint since at least 1970.
There is a plastic cup in the bottom that eventually dries out. I have used ATF and a syringe to shoot about 30 cc into the joint. That fixes it for ~40k miles or more. Check for play after the ATF works its magic.
As a new guy in here I appreciate the great feedback. Yup - lower control arm is the culprit. Dealer wants a lot to replace (both) and then do an alignment and a few other things. I was hoping for a less expensive fix so I'll probably try to replace it in DIY fashion. I'm sure I'll be back and asking for some more help...cause from what I've seen so far, you guys know your stuff.
Given the age of the vehicle , and the arms being a common wear item , they may need replacing . As might a few bushes by now . Without looking at the car it's impossible to know .
Lube it as suggested might work but if it's very worn , it won't help much , but that might give you your answer .
Might be worth having an Indy give you a second look .
If you're a handy person , changing them out isn't that hard diy.
You can buy new arms online for reasonable money .

I rebuilt mine using powerflex poly bushes .
