Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

With that said, I also follow CA Basic Speed Law, and I've recently started making a common observation: I will often spot a LEO with my naked eye, or Waze, and he won't even be using his RD, at all.

Suggestion

My conclusion is that many LEO are actually using their eyes and judgement to pull over unsafe/reckless drivers, and not basing it upon an arbitrary speed #.

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

8 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

  • Rennlist: 1 discussions

0 evidence records excluded for query context · 0 excluded by outcome qualification · 0 adjusted by outcome qualification.

0 acknowledgements have no verified action link; they do not establish a repair result.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

He was 25 years on the job, San Diego region, now retired by still does some part time help for them. He said there is nothing like CHP targeting Porsche drivers, no culture to go and get them or look out for them. Actually he said there isn't any profiling at all; for example if I was CHP I would look for 5.0 or otherwise hopped up Mustangs driven by teen boys. There was one experience when he was driving a supervisor car (not black&white) and a yellow Porsche flew by at what he said was 190 mph. (Well, you know, probably was 150-160.). He called ahead and a fellow CHPer got the speeder. But he did say the yellow car was real easy to spot. We talked about something I read in Excellence Magazine a long time ago; an article had an interview with the Arizona Hwy patrol. The statement there was that they typically leave Porsche drivers alone, they are typically car lovers, car guys, and very knowledgeable so Porsche drivers actually are a much lower threat on the freeway than many other cars / people.

POST 2Original post

I've lived in San Diego for 17 years. I have a natural distrust for authority, and drive with Waze + my Valentine 1 active at all times. With that said, I also follow CA Basic Speed Law, and I've recently started making a common observation: I will often spot a LEO with my naked eye, or Waze, and he won't even be using his RD, at all. If you look at how the Basic Speed Law is worded, it's actually very intelligent/progressive, and allows for good judgement. My conclusion is that many LEO are actually using their eyes and judgement to pull over unsafe/reckless drivers, and not basing it upon an arbitrary speed #. I think my experience + the way the law is worded is consistent with what you describe, which is awesome.

-cool, Except: Me too, but this firggin' 996 is so excellent, I've been pushing the limit over 80 and at spots to 90. It's just so natural, my amazement of this car continues. So easy to see a "road plug" ahead and quickly get through it (road plug: F-150s and Corollas hogging the left lane.). Get this, at the end of the longer conversation as we walked out together, he said he would get me one of those CHP stars to put on the rear bumper. The kind that help when you are pulled over because I will then be "family and friends", i.e. no tickets unless I am dangerous.

POST 4Original post

Let's do a group buy for CHP stars. I drive a grey car for a reason. My dad had a yellow Z06 for a while. I never got popped in it but he had at least a half dozen tickets in 5 years with it. Poor VA enthusiasts with the radar law there

POST 5Original post

Highway Patrol target Porsche drivers here, ask me how I know...

POST 6Original post

I always wanted to say if I got pulled over for speeding "Officer, you know this car at 100 is safer and can stop faster than most of the cars on the freeway at 55" Somehow, I don't think it would work..... Didn't say anything other than thank you when I was doing 108 and he wrote the ticket for 80. I was successful in beating the ticket too And I call the road plugs "Left Lane Louies"

Basic Speed Law doesn't get into the #'s; neither will I. I love Speed Yellow, but grey is a better choice for me, too.

POST 8Original post

I figure whether I'm being targeted, profiled or not, if I'm breaking the law and get a ticket I have nobody to blame but myself. You have to pay to play. Now harassment when NOT breaking the law is a different story...
