I'm thinking it is the igniter/ ballast but a new porsche HID ballast is $600- has anyone replaced these with a plug and play OEM style aftermarket?

Hello! My xenon low beams have been acting up a little- About a month ago I noticed that they would not turn on when I put turned the switch on, but after turning the switch back and forth they both would work. This progressively got worse. I replaced the bulbs with no improvement and after reading here I decided to change the switch in the dash. At this point the right one comes on when the switch is turned but the left on does not common right away- I have to switch it back and forth a half dozen times. I'm thinking it is the igniter/ ballast but a new porsche HID ballast is $600- has anyone replaced these with a plug and play OEM style aftermarket? I do not want to cut wires to put an aftermarket on. Thanks!

Your are quite possibly dealing with a connection issue, where the fault is brittle / broken wiring inside or integral to the headlight housing. Known problem worth looking into before changing more parts. GLWS.

Thanks Mark- I took everything out and looks OK- sprayed electric cleaner into connection as well- but it does seem like a bad connection versus the ignitors? I'll investigate more in the next few days.

Just joined this site but not getting too much help. My 08 GTS is having the same dipped error on driver side, all other lights work fine. I changed out the bulb with Phillips D1S to no avail. Checked fuses, all checked out. My next thought is ballast or plug wiring... Any other thoughts? Any help will be appreciated!
